A 42" Sony Bravia smart TV.

Last TV was state of the art at the time (100Hz FST 28") and cost £1100 with stand, this one's a bit cheaper.

My 2nd. I brought a 2nd hand one 2 years ago that was a Mid 2007 model. I claimed house insurance for new one. This one is a Mid 2012 model

Re: What have you just bought?

A powered sub woofer to get some decent bass for the new telly. Midrange and upper sound is fine. Got this one for £30 as the Sony wireless one was silly money (£250!) and my main hi-fi speakers are too large to tuck in the bay window with the TV and wouldn't look right.

This can be placed unobtrusively just behind the TV stand.

Sorry, Gary, I don't know what you mean.

What I mean is small notes for bars and restaurants, for drinks/snacks/meals, so I don't get hit for credit/debit card transaction charges.

Just bought my wife the most basic Kindle for her birthday. She didn't want the others which are a lot more expensive.

Now looking for another refurbished laptop to put Linux on so my son can have one for school and wife/daughter another for playing. Really just need to browse, read email, do scratch and watch DVD's and not a lot else. I like Lenovo Thinkpads as I know all the bits work and I can get T60's for under £150.

---------- Post added at 12:59 ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 ----------

Found the laptop, others have commented Linux works fine (and I've put Mint on the similar T60). Probably need to source a new battery, got a nice one cheap on Amazon for the T60.

For the price they are very good. It doesn't take long to get used to either.

Yep. Excellent. The only drawback is that I used to take turns with my wife to go and get her tea and my coffee in the morning. Now it's my job every morning as it's a little more fiddly to use an Aeropress compared to a normal filter. :)

Hope not!

I've bought a turbo trainer for the spare room so I'm curious how my heart will perform when I give it some hammer (the bike and the heart). With a strong family history of heart disease, I want to keep an eye on things.
