Currently watching Rise of Skywalker on Disney+.

A show I do recommend watching is Upload on Prime. It's about someone who dies and is uploaded into a digital afterlife.

You tube tutorials on making face masks for the family.

Hopefully by the time I am allowed out I won't have to wear one. The trial one I have made so far is very hot and makes me feel claustrophobic.

That interesting jo as tell us how you get on with that as there have been suggestions from some that using a scarf or a bandana might do the job just as good.

At the moment I am looking for patterns to make some 'Macho' style masks for the guys but so far the masks I have played around with are not at all comfortable.

I have already started work on some for the ladies in my family based on some vintage silk scarves that I had tucked away in the back of my cupboard. I read that silk is a good barrier material and plan to add an inner layer of good quality Egyptian cotton to make their colourful Bandana style face masks a little more substantial.

I plan to make a Hermes one for myself if I ever get the go ahead to venture out.

I had to go into A&E so have the one they supplied but I find even that something I wouldn't want to wear for long. Breath often comes upwards and steams up specs.


Don't forget the purpose of the mask in public is more to stop you spreading than catching.

yeah, you have got to appreciate the irony of more is less. As soon as I realised I had all of this free time I thought it would be perfect to go back and watch loads of old series which I would love to watch again and thought I would never have the time. Thinking I had all the time in the world I sat down and made a list of films and tv series I want to watch and when you add it all up I still haven't got enough time. I would be need to be off for 3 years :)

How it's Made - Discovery Science. They're at the Heinz factory in Kit Green (Wigan) I've been there a few years ago and it has to be the noisiest place in Christendom. Even with ear defenders on you can't hear yourself think.

I was helping the local sales rep in diagnosing a metering issue with some industrial electronics.

Oh and baked beans aren't baked they're actually steamed.

Well I know what I saw in the factory and the beans are cooked before they're placed in the cans with the sauce from another floor of the factory.

I also saw a very challenging job: On the line where sausages are put in with the beans, before the sauce is added the number of sausages is checked on the line, and if the can is wrong it's popped off the line where the girl is sitting. She checks the number and adds or subtracts the sausages and then puts the can back on the line. For 8 hours a day. :sleep:

Syfy cancelled it after season 3 and there was a massive uproar. Loads of famous people (e.g. George R R Martin) texted Jeff Bezos aka Mr Amazon and he got his tv chief to look at it, she was blown away and picked it up for a fourth season which aired last year and it has been renewed for a fifth season which is presumably in production. You should take a look at the The Expanse thread in this forum because a lot of links for the
campaign to get it renewed are in there. You had things like a plane flying over Amazon HQ for 2 days with a banner saying "save the expanse", cakes being delivered to the tv chiefs office and some of the fan made content put on youtube was fantastic. I haven't seen such an energised fan base since Jericho was cancelled. It really was the stupidest decision to make, this series is amazing and producers should be allowed to tell the full story like GoT. I think I read in SFX a while ago that it is based on a 9 book saga and the two dudes who write the books have just finished (back then) writing the ninth book. So the good thing for Amazon is that they know exactly where they are heading story wise and can plan everything. You'll see a massive different between season 1-3 and season 4. Amazon have thrown a tonne of money at it to expand the locations and bring it to its full potential and it is very humbling from a fan's point of view to see such a superb scifi series given the respect it deserves.

Np, i consider it a civic duty to spread the word and get as many people to watch it as poss. People like to take the mickey out if me for how fussy i am with what i like and watch. The Expanse is perfection as far as i am concerned; proper serious quality scifi. That being said, i have just shot myself in the foot looking up the premiere date for season 5.

I had read the books . . before finding out there was a TV series.

I don't normally take to 'TV adaptations' of books I've enjoyed, but the series was was excellent

Controversial ! But as I said, it's good to have a choice. DW attracts higher and wider audiences than 'pure evangelical scifi'. However, will seek out The Expanse and give it a go.

The Expanse is excellent but I didn't like the current season as much as previous ones. It wasn't bad but something just didn't click with me as much.

the originals were ok and in keeping with the production quality at the time. The modern ones though are just a poor excuse to be cheap and what I class as peasant tv. The production quality is awful and the kind of thing I would do if I was an amateur tv producer trying to make my first tv series in my garage.

yup. Stuff like BSG, Expanse, Star Trek, GoT and those kind of series are what I like it. Proper serious stuff with strong stories and characters which you can really get in to.


Stargirl is at my absolute limit. The bad guys are too cheesy and Pat and the black girl do my head in. The only thing which is keeping it going for me atm is Stargirl, I think she is great. I don't know whether it is the character or the actress which is doing it. I like cat girl as well. I was ready to drop it after ep 2 if it was just going to be Stargirl and Pat every episode but now that they are introducing more characters it means the annoying people get less screen time.

Be interesting to hear what you think of Doom Patrol then? It's a super weird show. I'm enjoying it based on what I have seen so far. I enjoy my realistic shows that are serious but then I do also love the crazy stuff that likes to go OTT.

Bowie at Glastonbury - epic.

Saw him, ‘78 in West Berlin, ‘87 on the Glass Spider tour Manchester, ‘89 Tin Machine Bradford, ‘90 Sound and Vision tour London Docklands.

Love Bowie, but honestly, we queued overnight in pouring rain for the Tin Machine tickets, and that was more enjoyable than the actual concert.

Luckily, saw him on tour the following year, and faith was restored.

Drain the Oceans - National Geographic. A fascinating episode about the way the English faced off with the Spanish armada.

An interesting fact was that the English cannons were all the same calibre whereas the Spanish had a motley assortment and had to check every ball was the correct size for the gun they were loading which seriously reduced their rate of fire compared to the English.

I don't watch Dr Who not because I don't enjoy it I just don't watch any broadcast TV, I currently pay for Amazon Prime and can watch everything else for free using the firestick CinemaHD app.

Let's see if Hanna gets me hooked, it's doing great after 2 episodes.

I watched ep 1 when it first came out and thought it was okay but have never been back to it. When the lockdown started and I knew I was going to be off for at least 12 weeks I made myself a list of the tv series I needed to catch up on. The list didn't factor in though the series I wanted to re-watch and was only a list of four or five current series I was behind on. I have been re-watching series and movies which I thought I would never have the time to watch again and it great. I have just finished V (80s) and started 2009. I have also just started Avatar TLB as well but I'll blast through that in no time because they are only 20 minute eps. Atm I have got another four weeks off and I need to watch Warrior Nun, Cursed and Hanna. If I have ever more time (if the lockdown gets extended due to a second spike) I need to watch Manifest, Jinn, The Order and Knightfall season 2.

I do, I didn't stop watching it because I didn't think it was good. It was okay and I wanted to watch more but I had a lot of other series on the go at the time so it is one of those series which I put on the back burner and come back to over xmas or the summer when things quieten down a bit. I have been meaning to get back to it but there has always been something more pertinent to watch. I thought I would have bucket loads of time to get through everything during the lockdown but the more time I seem to have the more things I find to do.

Thanks to you I am now officially hooked on Homeland after the first 3 episodes, so I'm good for a month or 2 with 93 more episodes to watch before I need another fix!

Currently on season 3 of Homeland and watched the whole of season 2 and some of 3 in a 15hrs binge, i even ended up watching it when i got up and i never normally watch TV at that time!
