They've made it clear this whole "FREE" promotion is to lure broadband customers to BT. How do they intend on keeping the upper hand by wholesaling to Sky? What's to stop Sky then offering free BT sport with Sky broadband. It would financial more sensible to do that than offer sky sports at a reduce rate. |

Just to prove a point, l was with Sky for many years and the price was approx £50 in the time l have been with VM it has only gone up to £72 they normally increase by £1 / £2 per year which is cheap.
How can VM justify increasing the price THREE times over a period of eighteen months that everyone has spoken about. |

But when i ordered, I got BT Infinity, so went for the BT Infinity 2 (download 78mb, upload 20, estimate for me was 56 down, and 20 up) First 3 mths discounted to £20 per mth (then £26), phone rental paid for full year (£129). Delivery charge £6.95 (for equipment) And £50 sainsbury voucher (and free BT sports and HD) Will someone start a thread, I decided to plump for BT offer? Am I first? :D |

I think that with BT Sport getting the Conference - Blue Square football- l think thats where you will get VM in a pickle, as they are supplying the extra football for the sports fan. And it could prove a 'price war' as who is going to watch Blue Square football.
Setanta had this football BUT they paid too much money for it and fell flat on there backs. |

TalkTalk 'in negotiations over BT Sport deal'
TalkTalk wants to add BT Sport to its TV service. TalkTalk is thought to be negotiating with BT over the possibility of adding the telecoms giant's soon-to-launch sports channels to its YouView TV service. BT Sport will debut in August, offering subscribers access to live and exclusive Barclays Premier League football, Aviva Premiership rugby union, WTA tennis and more. Tristia Clarke, commercial director at TalkTalk, admitted that the channels - BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN - will not be available on TalkTalk TV from launch, but insisted that conversation regarding a possible deal is ongoing. Speaking to Broadcast, she explained that BT Sport would complement the Sky Sports content available to TalkTalk TV customers for a monthly subscription. "We're talking to BT. As Sky do, they will look for points of distribution," Ms Clarke said. "It would be a way to drive incremental revenue in the same way we do with Sky." Her comments came as TalkTalk published its latest set of financial results, which revealed that its YouView-based television proposition added 150,000 users in the first three months of 2013 - making it the fastest-growing new TV service in the UK. http://www.cable.co.uk/news/talktalk...eal-801587418/ |

"“The reality is if you want premium sports you’re not going to be a TalkTalk customer. We’re not the right place for you to be and we’re really relaxed about that." "“Our most frequently-watched on-demand content is Peppa Pig. That’s our market, not people who want to spend a chunk of money on premium football matches." |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Am I right in saying that talk talk gets its sky sports via dvb (terrestrial)? And if so am I right that you can't receive this in HD because there arnt any available muxes, and if so then bt sports would never be available on that platform in HD.
Next question, do talk talk customers live in the last century? |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Sky Sports on Talk Talk is delivered via IPTV and unlike BT it carries all the Sky Sports channels although currently only in SD.

6% of Sky customers consider switching to BT, survey finds
BT's decision to provide free sports channel access to broadband customers could help the firm attract new subscribers, it has been suggested. Research conducted by Usurv indicates that six per cent of Sky TV customers are considering terminating their subscription to sign up with BT instead. Some 15 per cent of Sky customers surveyed said they were interested in receiving BT Sport, which launches in August 2013, reports Advanced Television. The Usurv poll also indicated that eight per cent of non-Sky/BT customers will switch from their existing broadband provider in order to access BT Sport. Guy Potter, Research Director at Usurv, said the study shows consumers are interested in BT's new sports package. He commented that the initial feedback to the free service offer "seems very positive". "While it is early days, as BT ramps up its multi-million pound ad campaign to promote the channels and more people get a clearer picture of what’s on offer, you might expect interest to build," Mr Potter stated. "Our findings show that it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see customers from Sky and other broadband providers switching to BT to benefit from these new channels." http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/new...ubscriptions_/ |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Unlimited (20mb) BB on Sky is £7.50 and is £16 on BT.
Sky Phone packages are: Weekends: free, Anytime: £5 BT Phone: Evenings & Weekends: £2, Anytime: £7 Line Rental: Sky: £14.50 BT: £15.45 (or £10.75 if pay upfront) However, BT Sport costs £12 on Sky and is free on BT. (Next year it will cost £15 on Sky and £3 on BT for HD) Therefore: Sky BB & Anytime calls = £27 BT BB & Anytime calls = £38.45 (at £15.45 line-rental) Difference = £11.45 Therefore it is 55p cheaper to switch to BT for phone and BB if you want BT Sport. Though if you factor in 6 months BB for free on BT, you can save £99.30 over the course of 12 months. Not sure it'd be worth the hassle for most. |

2. If it isn't available on VM then this advert will contravene ASA regulations as you cannot compare costs against a company who is not carrying the channel. 3. It could also be a problem that technically the advert is only applicable to existing customers who have not been charged extra. If they are not charged any more than their existing charge for BB then it is free. If they are new customers then it should only state it is provided "at no extra cost" as it is dependant on them taking out a chargeable service. |
