The way the barcodes are playing, I don't think they will be a major problem, especially away from St James.

...and from a person who's mum is a Sunderland fan, I would just love it if they did go down ;)

It's just a shame that they are in a position to help us if they win and then gain points for survival.

Barton is an absolute ******* and doesn't deserve to be playing premiership football. I hope Newcastle stay up, but only if they get rid of him

The Toon were dire but Liverpool's first & third goals were both offside.

Having just watched the Sunderland game I think you could put all three North East teams on the pitch at the same time and United or Liverpool would still beat them.

The first one was dubious, have to disagree about the third.

Doesn't really matter anyhow as they were pretty woeful and if we'd been firing on all cylinders I think i'd have cringed for Newcastle

I think it's harsh, he hasn't turned results around but it's not his fault Newcastle are going down. It's also takes long for a lot of managers to make an impact.

He didn't join at the best time either. Out of the 8 games he's had to play Chelsea and Liverpool. The game against us wasn't that clear cut. The two draws against Stoke and Pompey aren't that bad all things considering.

Lest people forget, he's the Premier League's top scorer and will be for some concievable time. He's been exemplary for the country and raises a lot of money for charity. He's an utter gentleman of the highest order. Its just a shame that some people are so bitter because their clubs failed to sign him numerous times.

I agree, I have a massive amount of respect for Shearer and he has had a hard run in. Spurs is a game I would expect them to lose, especially away. It's not an easy game.

Hopefully they are being fashioned into a defender. We could keep it in one place and it would still be more effective than the rubbish we have at the back for the moment.

Russ again swap you Berba for Bendner..... and ManU deserves to win cant say much else about it Arsenal just been outplayed totally over the 2 games.

Just shows you again that Arsene needs to invest in defenders at the end of season with experience more then youth as our back 4 has been injured or just not playing well. midfield we have enough or more then enough strikers perhaps 2 new strikers to replace bendner and perhaps adebayor.

Who cares though? I feel bad for Fletcher, should not have been sent off. It's not as if it affects the balance of the game though. People brush it off because it's football, things are unfair sometimes. They usually balance out.

I hope we can keep our players this summer and build on the defence, it's very irritating. We have times when we show that we could challenge for the Champions League, and the Premier league. But it's been an awful season, not helped by the massive defence problem! A defence which was strong not that many weeks ago.

If we build on the the Defence and keep our players I think we might actually see us progress!

Commentary was probably bummed out that there was no great match and contest. It was just Arsenal's Defence comedy show. It started off like it would be a great game, both sides up for it. The crowd started awful really booming. Then, bam, over!

They did get to keep the cup as all 5 times winners do;)

He can be forgiven for not knowing that ;) :p:

Wow - did you realise that Nottingham Forrest won the cup twice?? (1979 and 1980) - who'd have thunk it??

Yep, Liverpool and Forest are both teams with a successful European history ;)

West Ham could be barred from Europe.

Well you were only a baby back then so to be expected, back then it was between them and Liverpool as the 2 giants of football, how times have changed for them.

You have to hand it to the scousers, they're certainly entertaining, if a little predictable. Man U get to the final of the champions league, and the scousers come on here, banging on about how many times they've won it, pictures of Istanbul etc etc.

Predictable scousers, will they ever change.

Exactly. If we take the final, what are they expecting us to say? Maybe "Yes we are the first team to win the Champion's league back-to-back but we'll never be better than Liverpool who have won it...er...one more time than us..."?

Won anything yet? Nope. Even if we end this season in 2nd place, i'll sleep soundly knowing we beat you twice :)

I wouldn't be counting my chickens just yet ;)

And if that's the highlight of your season then ours will be another premiership trophy :D

Well think how good Arsenal feel! The highlight of our season would be qualifying for the Champions League :D (Hope Gibbs learns to stand by then :erm:)

BEING AN ARSENAL FAN IS HARD!!!

Cry me a river :p: Arsenal fans are just as spoilt as the rest of the fans of the top 4.

Its the 88 other teams who have a right to complain about the status quo.

if we win the European Cup this season and next we get to keep the cup too although it is a bit too soon to be talking about that.

In the laet 70s 80s the English were the teams to beat in Europe

As a Man United fan I was obviously thrilled at last nights result, not really surprised though, Arsenal were very weak, we had a tougher time against Middlesbrough IMO.

Also, I would rather we get Barcelona in the final and lose 5-0 than get Chelsea and lose on penalties in a bore 0-0 score draw because of their defensive minded mentality.

I meant spoilt for success. The top 4 is a ridiculous monopoly that ruins football for the rest of the EPL. Aston Villa gave us a glimmer of hope but ultimately we knew what was going to happen. For our topsy turvy season being at the bottom is more interesting and exciting than at the top.

And btw, although our owner (Joe Lewis) is rich, we aren't another Chelsea. The club is owned by ENIC rather than Lewis personally, and it is run ruthlessly as a business. That's why we are one of the most profitible clubs in the EPL, despite a lack of success. Lewis doesn't just throw unlimited supplies of money at the club like Ambramovic causing massive losses.

Playing devils advocate for a minute...

But you do realise that Spurs are only £13 million behind Chelsea, regarding the purchases of players, over the past 5 seasons? So very little in it.

Well nor does Wenger, Arshavin was probably the most expensive player brought by him and that was still cheap for what we got. So although we are one of the 'big 4' it was not though excessive spending. It's a credit to Wenger he has made Arsenal a top 4 team and makes a profit overall.

Does that include players sold though? Is there a list somewhere?

I only said purchases, but there is a list here which tells you purchases, and also figures for sold players (and obviously net figures too) In that respect Spurs have done better business in the selling of players (5 year figures)

Arsenal have done particularly well, as you alluded to.

to be fair a lot of leagues suffer from the same problem. Lyon have won about 6 leagues in a row in France. In Spain the league is nearly always Real or Barca with the odd other team getting a title here or there. Portugal it is Benfica, Sporting and Porto and both Rangers and Celtic have won 9 in a row in the past

A Kenyan fan of English football club Arsenal has hanged himself after his team's defeat by Manchester United.

The north London club was beaten 3-1 in the European Champions League semi-final second leg on Tuesday evening.

Suleiman Omondi, 29, who was watching in a bar in the capital, Nairobi, was incensed by the club's poor showing.

He left at half-time after arguing with a Manchester United fan and was found hanging from a rope in his house, still dressed in an Arsenal shirt.

Except we've sold a lot to fund it. We made £20m on Berbascum. We made something like £11m on Keane and then bought him back at another profit.

We've spent money within a tight business model but we've also earnt it by selling a lot of players. And those purchases has spread quite a few players. We haven't just gone out and spunks £30m on Berbascum, £30m on Ferdinand (and that was what, 8 years ago?) and possibly another £30m on Tevez, £60m on Ribery? Our top signing is Modric at £16m and that's less than what you paid for van Nistelrooy in the 90s. Also our wage structure is on a feasible business model, not the £125k a week Ronaldo gets. You can't compare.

Anyway, money doesn't make success as City will find out. The players won't come unless you are in the top 4, and you can't get into the top 4 without them. Its a vicious circle. So unless you can fluke it, or a team implodes, you're screwed. Everton managed it once, Villa almost managed it. That's it. If a team does find decent talent and convince them to come the top 4 teams circle and swoop in. It happened with Berbascum and already the reports have Lennon going everywhere in the north west along with Modric.

First of all, if you're going to start with names like Berbascum, how can anyone take your posts seriously. What is it with you Spurs supporters, players leave, and your necks extend like a giraffe. Sol Campbell anyone?

If Spurs want to keep spending at Lidl's go ahead, if you want decent players, you'll have to start shopping at Harrods like we have to. Given the choice, I'm sure we would rather not be ripped off by clubs (including yours) by inflating the price, because of who we are. And the players we have bought at inflated prices have so far served us well, whereas you've spent significantly more in the transfer market in the last 5 years (and sold more, although your overall net is more than us) and have a carling cup to show for it.
