Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
john Rhys-Davies and Jerry O'Connell are in talks for a Sliders revival. I hope it goes through because I would love a new series like this with different stories and settings every week. With the standard of special effects these days I think the series will be a lot better quality than the original because they'll be able to create any environment the writers imagine.

I loved the first seasons of Sliders. It was a fantastic show. Got a bit crazy toward the end, but would love a revival.

Yeah, it got weird when john rhys davies anx jerry o'connell left

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
Yeah they then brought in Jerry's brother to replace him then all the alien nonsense.

Nice, he is the only semi-main character that i feel i dont know anything about. I put him en par with Black Widow but we have learnt more about her as we have gone through the movies plus she is getting her own origin film. I imagine Hawkeye will be aimed more at 10-12 year old boys in terms of the stories and action but it will be good to get some depth on the character and build him up a bit.

2019 Upfront dates ;
This is when the US networks announce the fate of their shows, what will be renewed, what wont, and what new shows are coming. Of course, they have already cancelled or renewed many shows, but the fate of others is still unknown, plus we dont (generally) know what new shows are coming. May 13: NBC, Syfy, Fox May 14: Disney, ABC May 15: CBS, TBS, TNT May 16: The CW So by Friday 17th, we should pretty much know whats coming in the new (US) TV season. |

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
It used to be the case that scifi series were in the minority and I had then time to watch everything that I wanted to. These days so many series are coming out that I physically don't have the time to watch everything that I want to anymore and I have to try and pick and choose.
|
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
Batwoman was expected - she was in the Elseworlds crossover last year, and CW needed to replace Arrow.
I may give Nancy Drew a look, I have no idea what (who ?) Katy Keene is. |

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
I like the premise but the one thing which is making me feel despondent at the moment is Joel Kinnaman. He was quite drab in Altered Carbon which a lot of people moaned about and I didn't think anything of it at the time and put it down to the character he was portraying in the series. Unfortunately the same performance was repeated in Hanna which leads me to conclude that it is the actor who cannot act nor portray any semblance of personality.
|
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
Probably why is performance in RoboCop was good then lol. Acting like an emotionless robot, hehe.
|
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
exactly, that is all he can do and when people are like that they aren't "acting", they are just being themselves.

yeah, if the season 7 finale is the 100th episode it sounds like they want to go out with a bang. I am glad they care enough to make sure that "The 100" has 100 episodes, it is cliché but who cares.
|
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
100 episodes is the traditional point for syndication, which will be why they extended it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_episodes |
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
interesting, I never knew that. Also probably why back in the good old days full seasons were 26 episodes for a perfect half year run.

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
yeah, hopefully though they are going to get plenty of notice if the series is ending so the writers can sit down and know they have got 16 episodes to finish off the series properly and do it justice. Like GoT, the characters have been through so much and come so far, they deserve a good send off.

Disney are surely missing the point. I’m a big marvel and Star Wars fan, but I will not be subscribing to their channel.
I’ll either watch it by other means or if the opportunity arises buy the shows I want via Blu-ray or other medium. There’s no monthly income from me, much in the same way amazon and Netflix can kiss my behind. |

Disney are marketing it's service very well. The monthly fee is cheaper than the other services on offer, it will have many great shows and movies as well as a lot of new and exclusive content available, as well as only offering the one price which gets you 4K and all content with a number of users. Netflix only gives you that if you pay over £11 a month. It's also the only place that will get Marvel movies and shows so they will certainly be taking it in. |
