I've just set them up. I hope they are better than some of the hi tech extras we are supposed to have. A lot of these are simply broken!

65,000 pre-reg according to this...

http://www.whathifi.com/news/virgin-...r-numbers-fall

" the number of new customers signing up to Virgin Media's TV service fell by more than 70% year-on-year – to just 10,100."

interesting...I wonder if they'll make any good retention deals when I ring to cancel :D

If they don't sort out all these tivo problems they will loose a lot more.

Which TiVo problems?

Tivo niggles yes, but overall impression is that it is a very impressive box

The article is referring to new customer growth not churn (cannot access directly as at work so apologies if there is other text I don't know about). It is a lower figure than I would expect but Tivo is a much greater incentive to go with VM for control of your TV so expect improved figures for 2011.

Set the following programme to record as well?

yes as a temp solution, but I don't see why any future app for iphone or android shouldn't being able to change settings like padding and add thumbs up etc...

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I think I must be in a minority of 1 ... I dont think shelling out £149-£249 on a new product that there should be ANY niggles at all and if there are niggles/faults then the company should acknowledge and partial refund until all niggles/faults are corrected.

I have no idea why customers are prepared to accept second best just because its a 'new product' ... they (TiVo) still after 10 years cant get the EPG error free and bugs from that S1 era still exist from the reading I have done.

I expect i will get hung drawn and quartered for daring to say the above but honestly in this day and age there is no excuse for poor quality service or product quality of a big release product that TiVo aspires to be. If it was Apple or Microsoft there would be rants and raves all over about shoddy workmanship and yet you accept it from VM  .. the mind boggles

I will now bow out of any further TiVo decussion as i have no intention of having one until there is no choice.

Agreed, not expecting VM to be battling it out with Sky to have the most channels but there is a danger of the gap becoming too large. Channels like ITV2,3,4 really should have HD options as a base service now, they're hardly new channels these days!

While what Tivo can do may be great, if it cannot access content or have content available in HD format, it will still be seen as the weaker box to Sky+. If VM can access new/HD content via the Internet link rather than signing up to channels then that could be another approach but expect that potential for specialist or premium content, not basic stuff like ITV2,3,4 just as an example.
