Sky Sports aims to capitalise on ultra-HD following football trial

Hardly anyone out there has a set capable of displaying it , and I'm pretty sure it would require a new STB

But you are forgetting that relations between Sky and Virgin are very much in the entente cordiale mode now as there is a new kid on the block and it is very much in Sky's interest to make their content readily available to companies other then BT in order to neuter their affect plus remember Sky and Virgin have already done a deal in the last few months which in my mind is a prelude to other deals being completed.

I don't think anyone knows when this will actually launch. I would have expected to see a press release when the placeholder appeared on freeview but they seem to be staying very quiet about this channel.

Wow, just wow. I sure hope this stuff does really come! Seems the power of Liberty Global is pretty damn strong, this would NEVER have happened under the old guard. Sure the deal is not done, but the BT Sports deal has convinced me that they have the negotiation skills necessary to get it done.

I also think that this will end up crushing BT, which is what I think Sky are trying to attempt as they will not get the same deal!

The words I was told weeks ago was bigger company, with a lot more clout where negotiations are concerned and that was said to me by someone at the ceo's and I can confirm that's channels on mb list(apart from universal hd:(and the CNN ones) are what i was told was planned along with bt sports of course(hence me knowing it was coming ;))like mb has stated rumours but its clear now that vm are defo targeting these channels

Do any of the above have an estimate time of arrival I.e. next couple of weeks.

I think some have more chance than others on the list but if they do arrive I will join the ranks of impressive gratitude to the new owners or should that be for sky who appear to be softening their stance or BT to force their hand?

I have to agree , Sky Sports News HD looks excellent and its a channel I can see arriving on VM owing to the fact UPC Ireland carry it.
