Unfortunately the way VM are handling this means there is nothing you can do about it. As any call to 151 is pointless, as they can't even check if anyone has tried to call you.

151 is the faults line and even if you call 150 unless they can see notes on your account the is no way to know if you were called and why, plus if they called they would announce who they were so the answerphone message could be from anyone.

He phoned his mate to check what he had to do, then phoned their tech support before he went back to the depot. He came back with a printed out email then tried again and it still didn't work. Thats when he then plugged the cable in and yip it then worked.

I had to bite my lip to stop myself laughing.

So far I am impressed with the box. Much quicker than the old V+ box. But as others have said, I am a bit disappointed that the catch up doesn't work the way I expected but I understand it will be getting updated soon.

I think Virgin should hold their hands up and say we are beta testers and not charge us the £3 a month until it is ready for full roll out. But saying that, let the try and take it away :D

You aren't a beta tester. VM already have testers and they are running newer software before it gets rolled out to customer boxes ;)

The red button will come, TiVo have to build the interactive side from extract as US TiVo doesn't have any red button services at all so it's a new thing for TiVo.

Got a mailshot today from them, with a 'raffle ticket'
You need to enter the unique number on their website for the chance to win one of a 1000 free Tivo's for 12 months.

Worth a try :-)

Having signed the deal what over 12 months ago? You would perhaps think this might have been worked on before now?

Same goes for the 3rd tuner. VM knew they would want a 3rd tuner when they first spoke to Tivo, one would think they could have worked on this much sooner. It all seems a bit last minute to me.

Considering the last 12 months that would have been working on getting the box actually working on the UK Cable system (remember it was originally designed for US cable), talking to Virgin systems (TiVo in the US talks to TiVo only, not the cable provider as well) and to get core functions such as VoD in, I can understand why some things were later down the development line

It was a lot longer than a year ago. That was just the date for the press release.

They are having to build and add new code to their service that takes time. TiVo will probably be building the software and testing internally before it even gets to the VM testers so there isn't really anything to suggest this hasn't been worked on for a long time already.

Remember there is the Cisco STB as well that would have had to be built and then TiVo would have got their software working on the box, before even considering adding new features.

Maybe they had to wait for the hardware first.

After all VM are just getting TiVo to provide the software and sourcing the hardware from Cisco themselves.

TiVo maybe couldn't start on most of it until they got the kit to run / test etc.......

Maybe Marcus125 is 'super-human' and never makes mistakes? I'll stick with just being human and live with not being perfect.
