Question from the misses...
Why isn't Eastender's broadcasted in HD. I thought BBC HD would be showing it by now. Any ideas? |

To upgrade a show to HD costs a fortune, not just in cameras and editing facilities, but entire sets have to be remade. Most TV show sets just aren't designed for HD, there's too many blemishes that don't show up in SD but are overly distracting in HD. They've been upgrading the sets and buying in HD equipment to replace end of lifespan equipment, but it's a long process. |

Like I said, Eastenders is currently shot on SD cameras, they are in the process of migrating to a HD set up, they are in the process of replacing end of life SD cameras with Sony HSC-300's for the studio cameras, and Sony PDW 700's for the location cameras. Nice and cheap! That's just for the cameras, you're going to need to add HD capable broadcast monitors and control units before you can even think about using them, not to mention the editing desks which are A LOT more complex and expensive than a damn mac. Just so you know I haven't pulled the cameras they'll use out of my ass here's an article on it dated a mere 2 weeks ago. |
