We're just back from voting. 10 No's dropped in the ballot box by the Chad family :)

The place was dead. The YES and No guy outside where very chatty with each other and having a banter. The polling station was at my old primary school. Not been there for nearly 23 years. The booth was in my old primary 1 class room. The only thing that has really changed is the black board is now a white board :)

Is there an early projected result? I heard a neighbour in their garden saying it was a 52/48 yes vote an hour ago.

Rail minister Claire Perry has become the highest profile Tory to threaten to scrap the £1,500-a-head subsidy English taxpayers pay to Scots in the event of a No vote. Perry says:

“Cool, calm analysis, not promises of financial party bags to appease Mr Salmond, are what is needed from tomorrow and onwards. (A No vote must not result in) a whole raft of goodies on offer for Scotland that will be paid for by us south of the border to try to appease the Yes voters.”

John Whittingdale agrees:

“I for one would be very concerned at the idea that my electorate would continue to subsidise the Scots even after they have been given all these powers to raise even more money.”

As does backbencher James Gray, who writes in his local paper:

“I do not agree with the ‘Devo Max’ proposals which the three party leaders seem to be offering. Talk about feeding an addiction. The more you give them, the more they want.. The Barnett Formula, under which every Scottish citizen gets £1,500 per year more spent on him/her than their English counterpart must be swept away with no delay. We want greater powers for the long-suffering people of England.”
From Guido

Is that what Cameron and the other parties are offering as a consolation prize?

Looks like the green party banner?

We may get an 'exit' poll just after 10pm but BBC was reporting this morning before I voted that the result may not be confirmed until about 7am on Friday morning.

The best projection you're going to get is the Evening Standard's Ipsos-MORI poll which gave No a six-point lead this afternoon. BBC reported last night that there would be no exit poll. Your neighbour has been listening to someone who has been listening to someone who has been listening to someone who hasn't got a clue what they're talking about.

My polling booth had no pens, only pencils. Is that the same for everyone else who votes? I can't ever remember using a pencil previously. Surely a pencil vote is not a secure vote.

It's an indelible wax pencil, designed not to run even if the ballot paper gets wet. Ballot booths always have these pencils, they never ever have ink because of the risk of it transferring a mark to the wrong box when you fold the paper. X in more than one box = spoiled ballot.

Yep. Media can't do anything while the voting is going on but the moment the polls close an exit poll will be released.

The exit poll from the last general election was remarkably accurate.

If Salmond was right and Cameron only said yes to the Scots having a referendum as he thought they had no chance, then I don't think he will risk giving us an EU referendum....

Hammer hits the nail on its head :D. He will worm his way out of it somehow you can bet.

I just hope the Scots vote NO. I think it is disgusting that ALL Scots cannot vote.

There must be thousands of Scots all roung the world who want to vote, but cannot.

TBH if you can't be bothered to live in the country why should you have a vote.

It's only those living in Scotland that are allowed to votes. That includes those from other countries.

Why should people get a vote if they don't live in the Country?
