Re: Streaming services news, offers and general chit chat
As for Paramount they have held discussions with Comcast about a partnership or a joint streaming venture like Sky Showtime.
https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2024...mcasts-peacock The only confirmed talks of any company merging was WBD and Paramount although they couldn't really do anything official until 8th April. |
Re: Streaming services news, offers and general chit chat
I don't see it happening.
The consensus, if you can call if that, was that the Paramount/Warner announcement was to draw out Comcast, which it did. A lot of pundits believe that Comcast will spin off Warners into NBC Universal and as part of the deal, eliminate the Warners debt. In the end, I see their ultimate home as being within Microsoft or one of the other tech giants. |

What you might get is a Sky Mix catch-up service with older content on it to compete with the likes of Amazon's Freevee and UKTV. But not premium content like True Detective or Game of Thrones yet. That's reserved for subscribers. |

Skydance does look like the most likely now.

How can they all survive and more to the point, with the ad revenues going to these American streamers, what's left for our broadcasters? |

Re: Streaming services news, offers and general chit chat
I've probably been slow on seeing this but whilst sorting out my Now TV subscriptions today and for anyone not aware I noticed that they are offering Sky Sports for £21 a month for 12 months with no minimum term contract.
This seems a pretty good offer to me, especially as Now has all red button sports content finally. Comcast's takeover of Sky seems to be a good thing so far, the service now works perfectly after many years of bugs and glitches under the previous ownership and the prices have gone down, I now get Sports, Entertainment, Cinema and Boost for £30 a month, (with Boost I could share the costs with others hint hint). Imho this is the best streaming deal in the country apart from the fiver I pay on top of my EE phone bill to get TNT Sports and Discovery Plus. I am no fanboy and others may disagree but I feel Now and other British streaming services to a lesser extent are shaming the sharp practices of the US streamers. |

£23.98 for those is excellent value in my opinion. |
