Re: The Happy Thought Thread
My happy thought is I got home from parents Christmas visit in Wales and this year my house temperature was 20c instead of 9.5c like last year due to boiler dying and I'm not ill and got another 5 days of vaccination before work starts again!

Just got back from the dentist, £244 lighter from it, why is this a happy thought? It's one less silver filling in my mouth and I feel like I'm getting a far better service than I did at my old NHS, I do have another 3 to go though!

Went to do some shopping at Morrisons this morning, and found out they were doing a "buy six bottles of wine, get 25% off" - using this in conjunction with the Morrisons 10% off for Bluelight Card holders, and choosing some reds that were slightly reduced, I ended up getting £68.75’s worth of red wine* for just £34.94.
Result! *Aussie Shiraz, South African Shiraz, Californian Zinfandel, Patagonian Malbec, Portuguese Syrah/Aragonez blend, & a Spanish Tempranillo |

All Virginmedia services have now been cancelled and disconnected saving me a fortune, my last bill was for £0.00 and the account should be closed on May 7th.
Also just cancelled my TV license and wondering how long it'll take them to knock on the door when I won't engage or invite them in. |

Scotland Transplant Active Football team took part in a tri-nation tournament today in Dublin against Ireland and Northern Ireland. We won both games. 2-1 against Northern Ireland and 10-3 against Ireland.
So we won the first Gift of Life Shield and all have gold medals too. To say I am super happy is an understatement. However after such a long day I'm shattered and all sore and up since 4am, now back in Scotland and heading home for a well earned sleep. :cleader::nworthy: |

So my BT BB went down and fix likely Wednesday .
I bought a 5GHZ Router a while ago and had a 3 sim in it but the speeds were poor. When the net went down I was considering options and knew I had a Lebara Sim spare with no plan attached so I threw a 25 quid unlimited data plan at the sim and put it in the router . Lebara do cheap deals if I was waiting for a sim I would have had 50% for 3 months so unlimited for £12.50 and seeing as you do not use the number there is no reason not to set up a new sim every 2.5 months and get unlimited data for very cheap. Now the maddest part see the screen shot below. 3 times the download and 7 times the upload ( of FTTC) on this 5G sim that can be swapped every 2.5 months to ensure uninterrupted connection for current price of £37.50 which works out at £15 per month Yes you have to create a new account to get the deal but golly it is cheap. I will be switching the the deal sim next month and keep it going as a cheap backup for future or maybe even as my main driver |

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Re my previous post on my 5G router and sim. Well it is now all set up with mesh system which now runs my whole smart home through that so can switch from any provider without having to do anything now except plug it all in
Not bad though my smart home is relatively extensive 5 cameras 4 echo devices nearly all my lights are smart blubs and a fair few plugs so that is a lot of connected devices . Mesh systems are worth it imo |

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
2 years ago i bought a battery powered Bosch lawnmower EasyRotak 36-550 and it was a game changer for how easy it was to cut my grass, it was so much easier.
Unfortunately when I tried to use it a month ago it wouldn't run unless I tilted it 45 degrees! Luckily I registered it to get a free extended 3 year warranty and I sent it back for repair on Tuesday and I've just had an email to say they won't be repairing and will replace with a new unit or it's nearest match if my model isn't available so that's my Happy thought. |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
As a follow up to my 'rant' in the "moans & pet hates" thread, I'm pleased to say that my VM woes are - for the time being - behind me, although it took a couple of tries.
First call about the new contract resulted in a female trying to push upgrades at me, difficult to understand most of the time, the resulting offer was (over 2 years term) fairly good, however when the confirmation Email arrived I saw I'd been given some strange unrequested 'add ons'. Knowing I had a 14 day grace period I waited a few days then rang to query the contract. This time a chap I could understand better went through it all, removing the crap I hadn't asked for, and the end result is a price much better than I'd hoped for. I understand prices do need to rise, but the lady sneaking a few extras in has actually led to me getting a better deal than I had over the last 2 years. ;) |

Been throwing away years worth of hording found some interesting things. A 256MB stick of SDR I remember buying it as a pair at the computer fair paid £300 for the 512meg, an old cd rewriter and a t mobile sim card still sealed 2 unopened Nerf guns my daughter never got to play with but the grands now can haha . Far to much interesting stuff but all junk
|
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
haha, a couple of days ago while rooting at the back of a 'junk' cupboard I found half a dozen C90 cassette tapes I'd used for recording Tommy Vance (Friday Rock Show) many years ago. There should be great memories on them.
All I need now is a tape deck  'sigh' |

My aunt called me for a BBQ on Brighton beach pretty much outside her front door close to where the burnt down pier is. The train to Brighton was pleasant surprisingly not busy but the return journey was but luckily I walked to the front of the train whereas everybody else was settling at the back, less walking lazy buggers
The beach was busy as expected but nobody cared. I've been in some uncomfortable places and this was not one :D It remained hot into sunset and beyond. Lovely day. Loads of other people setting up BBQs too. |
