Sat having a coffee and a cigarette on the balcony outside the bedroom, blue skys l,
And the sun is out, the dogs are playing in the garden it’s incredibly quiet apart from the birds chirping (and now the dogs are playing bitey face) the suns out and everything for once feels tranquil. I wonder how long it will last |

SWMBO arrived with ‘I think we should….’ Which translates to ‘you’re going to do’ Ah well, nice while it lasted |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Fantastic UK weather again for another 2 weeks off in the UK for days out, I timed my 2 weeks off perfectly back in June too. I can't remember such a good summer in the UK before, atleast as an adult I can't really remember how long it lasted 40 odd years ago.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Out for another association walk this morning with Rossi our idiotic greyhound and Oliver who’s coming to us after we get back home from holiday. He’s currently being fostered by one of the rescue center workers as he was not coping in kennels at all, Brindle lurcher less than a year old, was kept in a garage , horrifically treated & never associated with other dogs.
So this is a slowly slowly to make sure he’s ok. Everytime we go and meet him and spend time with him there’s a little less fear and a little less nervousness. |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread

Should be soccer - October to March then cricket for the other 6 months. OK, with our weather maybe allow the soccer to run to May but it really shouldn't start so early. And then holding the world cup (Rugby is guilty of this too) in the middle of the northern summer!!! They should move this around so it's held in the winter for the hemisphere it is located in. That way it doesn't always disrupt the local game in the south. |

Re: The Happy Thought Thread

And, I believe, it was soccer here too for quite some time too. Was it the Americans using it that pushed to using football. Still using soccer distinguishes it from the various other "football" games especially that one that rarely uses the foot (the one that you don't touch down to get a touch down). |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
It's criminal to call it Soccer in the UK! You should be taken outside and tied to the goal posts! Lol
|
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Its 19th Century comes from Assoc and er
Assoc is abbreviated for association and association football was first played in the 19th century The word Soccer is as English as it gets |

If I go into settings/rules I can automatically set my phone to vibrate only when in certain locations. So when I go to work I always manually have to set it but now it's automatically done, this is a huge quality of life setting for me. My Pixel 2 Watch still looks and behaves like it always did, maybe I need to update that. |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Lazy dog  whatever happened to manual work :D
I really like these new visuals. The font is nice too. :tu: |

Well last Admiral tried to charge me £975 on my insurance with 36 years NCB, I told them WTF, they dropped it to £775, I said bye.
Aviva Zero (via compare the market) said £401. I said take my money. Well one year later, I expected it to go up, but with my new job it dropped to £253.33. I'm well chuffed. |

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
I just gave my GP a call curious whether they offer ear treatment. To my surprise they do. I did search the GP website beforehand where its stated yes by third party but obviously that's wrong. The staff member made an initial ear check appointment then it'll be decided whether I need further treatment. It's just as well I brought otex ear drops today which I'll need to use leading up to the appointment. There's a lot of miss information out there. It's sometimes best to play dumb and seek help. I didn't need to frantically call in the morning :D

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
It's a good day for conker collectors . What's up with the kids these days? None of them seem interested in picking them up. They'd have been scrapping over them in the 1970s :)

Same applies to those climbing trees, making rope swings, crafting bows and arrows, swimming in the local ponds/rivers, and all other activities that once were fun as a youngster.
I remember buggering off out after breakfast and coming home (late) for the evening meal - warmed up in the oven if you were lucky :D Pretty sure it didn't kill me or any of my friends ;) |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Good to get a decent nights sleep after spending several days in hospital having gallstones removed. Does anyone know if you still get an ache in the right side after surgery?

My ears have cleared :woot: I can stick a finger in one and hear out the other and vice versa equally as good. :D
There's no need for a follow up appointment with my GP. I could to be 100% sure but a lot comes down to how I feel which they the doctor cannot tell so it'll just be a waste of time. |

I bought something for £8.99 on Amazon a week ago but today I get an email saying my return is complete and my CC has been refunded. Trouble is I never requested a refund or returned the item!

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
Take the win :D
I ordered a 10 pack of 119g Giant Buttons the other week. They sent me 10 x 85g instead, so I complained to amazon. They refunded me the cost, and told me to keep the buttons. :) |

Amazon sell so much cheap tat (at good profit) that they can easily write off a few quid here and there without blinking. . . . and with the added bonus that the customer comes back for more :D

Re: The Happy Thought Thread
It's my first night in my new bed :D
https://www.silentnight.co.uk/silent...-mattress.html I was expecting it to be softer but it's fine I guess with no chance of springs digging into my back  I had a 20+ year old mattress prior to my £70 mattress which I thought I'd get away with using a thick mattress topper but no a crap bed is a crap bed. There's no polishing it. The new silentnight depth is nearly 40cm  |

Had a home visit from a nurse sent by our surgery, in response to my communication to them re my concern about my unintentional weight loss, approx 2.1/2 stones since July. Blood pressure was 120/70, temperature normal, in fact all vital signs normal, with the bonus I had put on a little weight. :):):) :hyper:

I survived the dentist for the crown preparation, probably the biggest and longest appointment I've ever had! I took the day off work so got a nice long weekend to chill out now.
I now realise just how barebones my old NHS dentist practice that I went to for 49 years with only 2 people where the receptionist was also the dental nurse! |
