Talk about a drawn out transfer move.

Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves says there could be developments this week on his potential move to Old Trafford.
United have had bids for the England international turned down in the past, but Bayern's club president Franz Beckenbauer has suggested a deal, reportedly worth around £17million, is not far off completion.

The 26-year-old energetic midfielder, who has spent much of this season recovering from a broken leg, is keen for a conclusion to the speculation.

"It's been one of the longest transfer sagas," he told BBC's Inside Sport programme. "I'm sure this week we'll hear some new information."
I think United need another striker, such as the much touted Torres.
"Sick note" Saha is a bit of a liability, and Dong won't figure in the plans yet as he is just another Asian shirt deal signing anyway imo.

A few more names in the hat according to the press

The Sun has tipped United to seal the shock free transfer of Mark Viduka from Middlesbrough, while other names being mentioned include Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax), Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona), Michael Owen (Newcastle) and Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham).

we are also meant to be afer Alves for heenveen ( I know I have spelt that wrong ) who's meant to be really good but not sure what sort of striker he is, target man, play maker etc etc

we need a replacement for Giggs too, based on some of his displays this season he's past it already, Nani has been mentioned

I have to admit all these names we have been linked with everyone goes on saying sign this bloke and that bloke and most i've barely seen play just know their names from the paper

also haev TK coming in from West Brom as a perm signing then i think he is going out on loan

Spurs should have signed a couple of good young players in Bale and Kabul by tomorrow

was hoping we would get Bale but in some ways it's nice to see clubs a bit lower down the league are still able to make these signings i always thought if Spurs had been more consistent this season they could have finished above Arsenal but each time they got close they skipped away

True, I read an article in the News of the World on Sunday questioning why every club had to be a stepping stone to one of the top four, primarily it was aimed at those questioning Berbatov's commitment to Spurs given Man Utd's renewed interest.

Tbh what good would it have done Bale to go to Utd, is he better than Evra or Heinze? He'd have spent years in your reserves, hampering his development if he'd gone there

well i think he is better than Heinze who has been a bit of a liability this season.. i've heard mixed reports about him so say he is only really good at taking a few free kicks and crosses and that his play as an actual LB isn't that good when he needs to defend.

He would have got some games with us, esp if Fergie had pushed Evra forward as a left winger, as has been suggested, but he can do just as well at Spurs.. I'm glad we won the league but we can';t sign everyone and it's nice to see players going to some of the other clubs.. would be great to see the top four change and make it into a top 6 or something.. just look at la Liga and how exciting that league has been this year with four teams rather than the usual two going for the title

look at Wright Philips Chelsea bought him just so no one else would and then they barely play him it's a shame that sort of thing can't be stopped by the FA

Got a feeling the status quo will change, all the new foreign owners seem to say 'Champions league in five years' :dozey: :D

To be fair the players have to hold a proportion of blame rather than the FA, look at Sidwell, we offered him a better contract than Chelsea and guaranteed him a starting berth, he probably won't get a look in at Chelsea, seems a shame that players are prepared to use years of their career playing reserve team football

Grrrrr....

Hope Bale gets more games at Spurs than Walcott got at Arsenal when he first went...

We should have got Walcott back on loan, at least he would've been playing competitive matches. Good deal for us & the Gooners then...

I have said it before but I don't know why clubs don't bid for first refusal on young players instead of signing them, that way they can see if they are good enough without damaging the youngsters careers

Manchester United, you finish as League Champions.

Chelsea, you leave with the League and FA Cups.

Arsenal and Liverpool, you leave with nothing :D
