If you ignored someone then wouldn't it get confusing? People having conversations where you can only see some of the comments, useless!

Personally I don't think people need to be "constructive and balanced" (not saying your not), it'a a public forum after all, as long as people aren't trolling then it's all good with me. ;)

Couldn't agree more , I'm a customer of Sky , VM and have free view and all have pros and cons , it would be a boring life if we all thought the same. If VM need praise I will give it , if theyve peeved me I'll also tell you LOL:D

And yes the ignore list makes it pretty hard hence why I don't use it and have no need to use it.

Seems VM picked content better than Sky as I believe Bravo first picked this up before the sale of the VM channels better figures than Sky Atlantic opening night I think

But of course Sky 1 is available on most pay platforms in the UK though.

Atlantic is actually achieving a higher weekly reach than FX which is far more widely distributed. It dosen't have much that interests me but I find it fascinating that so many VM customers pick up on the ratings. As it isn't available on VM and isn't likely to be anytime soon then personally I would be more interested what other new channels VM will be providing for my increased subscription costs which of course kick in soon.

That is a valid point Atlantic isn't available to anyone other than sky.

If it does launch on VM I bet the detractors will then claim it will be the best channel since sliced bread and VM done a wonderful deal getting it!

Given the title of this thread I would personally be asking my own provider what they are planning to launch.

Yes, because I was tired of waiting for VM to get their act together and launch channels they had promised so I did something about it rather than constantly moan and got Sky HD.

If I was a XL customer I would ask VM what they are planning, which you well know is what I did when I had XL, sadly it took me 7 months to get a definitive answer out of them so I dealt with the problem myself.

I wouldn't waste time observing ratings on channels that my provider dosen't even carry and instead ask VM what alternative plans they have but as you said some time ago VM are going on 'a HD shopping spree' I would rather speculate what the said spree will provide!

If they do go on this spree I may well return in a year so it is in my interest, I am very much still a VM customer.

Must admit HD is not so much of a problem for me i have a HD tv 32 inch and a v+ box which dos a brilliant job upscaling,i can though see why people with bigger sets want more HD on a 42inch plus screen it must make a real difference , mind you my parents have a HD set and v+ box and when i go around there they are often wtching the SD version of programmes, when i mention to them they could be watching in HD they go oh ! in other words they are really not that bothered wonder how any people are like this obviously forums will be buzzing with HD talk, but in the real world many people do not yet subscribe or in people who i knows case are really not that worried.:)

And the channel range also is good for my needs friends who have all sky has to offer often say to me not much on tonight.! and with all that choice.:D:D;)

Sky and VM must be wasting their time with HD then if your parent's don't watch it ;)

I think you're right.

I think that many people outside our 'geeek circle' don't care or understand what HD is all about. Some will want it to keep up with or be ahead of the Jones' and other people would like it but aren't prepared to pay extra for it. Some people think they already have it because they have an HD TV.

On my 40" TV even though not as good as HD, the SD picture is very good on a decent channel. The 5.1 audio of HD is as great an attraction as increased PQ to me and that is not an incentive to those without home cinema systems i.e., the majority of people

Well maybe convey that to VM, they have just shoved a 10mb modem into their Tivo box to enable HD streaming so maybe they have missed a trick and misjudged the market.

But I seriously doubt they have, over 3 million Sky+ HD customers paying over £120 a year extra for HD suggests otherwise too and I doubt all of them are 'geeks'

Why should I convey that to VM; I want HD :D

The point that is being made is that less than a third of sky customers are on HD (I believe it's even less on VM). What proportion of the UK viewing population are sky + vm customers? A relatively small proportion of the UK viewing population are into pay TV and even less interested in HD.

For Sky to have not much less than a third of it's entire customer base paying £120 a year extra for HD when it hasn't even been around for 5 years is nothing short of amazing and clearly indicates HD is a massive growth area and any operator who dosen't take HD seriously will pay a very high price.

Thankfully VM and Sky both realise the potential of HD.

I didn't really get HD myself until we got a 46" set, now I definitely get it!

There was smiley on the end of my post. It was a joke. Feel free to put me on ignore if you consider that baiting.
