How long of a contract are they making you sign for tivo? Is it 18 months or is that just for new customers?

Well this would explain why Virgin had to contact some of the S1 TiVo customers first

Anyway, this morning a splash message appeared when I pressed the Tivo button saying that it will stop working on 1 June 2011.

I believe it's 18 months for everyone

I would be seriously annoyed if that was me

Had an e-mail from someone at Virgin today telling me that I will be in a draw for another set of 1000 free boxes also stating that;

Re: TiVo

the trouble with "lifetime" offers is that it depends on who defines what a lifetime is ..

similar situation happens with PC hardware with some companies offering "lifetime guarantees" but that is defined in Europe as being 10 years by them but means a true lifetime in USA

"Something up our sleeve" was quoted last week by VM but that probably only means another Tivo Lotto as its also been reported those that have already paid and ordered will be included in the draw ... not that i would complain if i won although i still think the whole rollout system has been flawed and a shambles

unless i have missed the posts i have not seen a single post saying they have been contacted since last week and although we have a small sample of customers here the calls do seem to have dried up this week

would be nice to at least get an offer even if I am likely to refuse anything but a free box ... to be asked is enough but i'm not holding my breath while waiting

the cynic in me would say that the only winners of the next draw will be those who have already had the call and paid.

I've just received my new Services Contract after adding TiVo and the minimum service is 12 months.

Just a little more info for people via an email from the Senior Manager of Planning and Strategy (I assume a few of us have received this)...

The CEO office forwarded me your email.

As you may have read already, We'll soon be offering all our VIP 50, VIP 20 and XL TV customers (who also have Virgin Media Broadband and Phone) the chance to become one of 1000 lucky customers to win a special TiVo deal. You will receive information about this prize draw over the coming weeks , giving you the chance to win a complimentary TiVo box.

The first prize draw was also a random selection from a list of our VIP customers. As you can imagine, we can not give a complimentary box to our whole base, so a prize draw is the fairest way we can approach this.

We have ensured that your details are on the list for the next prize draw.

We are also continuing to prioritise our existing customers to make sure they are the first people in the country to get a hold of this fantastic new service

A.

Cheers.. At 12 months i might go for it if i get called, at 18 months it's too long to justify with wanting to move house.

Just reading my new contract which arrived in the post this morning, (TiVo gets installed on Thursday:)) and on the bit where it says "Minimum service period" there is a picture of a telephone with "No Change" written underneath, a picture of a laptop also with "No Change" written underneath and a picture of a TV with "12 Months" written underneath. So. I am assuming I am on a new 12 month contract only as far as the TV part of the package is concerned.
Doesn't really make any odds to me, as realistically I would probably keep the whole service or change the whole lot if for some reason that's what I wanted to do.
Hope that all makes sense!
