So are customer services wrong when they said:

TV XL, Broadband L, Sports (only) in HD for £61.50

He also said it is cheaper to keep the BT line rather than switching my BT line over to Virgin

And what you have been told is the pricing without a phone line.

You're then misrepresenting that by adding the cost of a phone line and going "this is the price with a phone line!" without taking into account the bundle discounts that having a phone line gives you.

I think the information you have been given is WRONG but I'm sure Ben will correct me if I am wrong.

Let's forget phonelines and price a bundle with only TV and BB.

The basic bundle is TV L and BB L at £30.50:

To upgrade the TV to XL is £12, making £42.50.

Adding Sports Collection at £20.50, making £63:

...and the £7 for HD premiums makes a grand total of £70, assuming ebilling and DD.

UKTV is aiming to launch so-called 'pull-on-demand' services on Virgin Media and BSkyB's pay-TV platforms by the end of the year.

Why should he (or she) miss out on the channels they want just because others are either too cheap to pay for them or refuse to pay for them and spite themselves to make some stupid point?

It's simple if you want the channels pay for them and if you don't - don't!

I sent a e mail to the CEO and got this reply back which i cant understand!!!!!

I'm so sorry that we have disappointed you. We work very hard at giving you value for money with the likes of free HD, VOD, free ESPN etc. Unfortunately the only deal we could strike with Sky for third premium HD was to pass on the costs to our customers. It is still £3 per box per month cheaper for Sky with no additional subscription for ESPN.

We are revisiting our top tiers and VIP in particular

Non premium channels in HD (wheather freview or not) have never been charged for on Virgin. It should stay that way im my view. Why should a Virgin media customer even suggest we should start paying for them? Sounds kinda crazy to me.

I have just received this reply to my e mail to Neil Birkett and as speculated it was at at sky's insistence that the £7 pound charge was made.

Well, the announcements have been made and there are mixed reactions. Was surprised to see no Sky adverts in the Sun today but instead a VM advert advertising SS HD1 and HD2 and a BT advert advertising SS 1 and 2 for £6.99 a month each. Anyway, as a non subscriber of sports and movies, I couldn't care less :D

Virgin Media have moved my loyalty bonus to now coincide with my moving to TV XL. Is this even legal? Seeing as Sky Sports is now the same price if you are on M+ up to XL, I asked to downgrade to M+ and was told my loyalty bonus would be terminated, meaning I'd be paying pretty much the same for M+. The only way out was to leave Virgin. This has been confirmed 3 times on the phone by them. I've now left the thieves and they didn't give a hoot. Either way Virgin are utter ****! Oh for the days of Telewest. :-(

Why should they be free??

Like I said earlier at least Virgin are being upfront this time about the charge for HD instead of hiding the extra charge for the hd channels in the price of a subscription like normal
