What makes you think everyone has had the same version? ;)

The VM network was built by many different companies who all used their own standards. So the technology varies between the regions. Testing in only one region jwouldn't guarantee it would work elsewhere.

Cheers for info bud,as usual greatly appreciated ;)

That's usually the way, but there has been today's VM announcement of Fox+ launching tomorrow. So that is a announcement before the actual event and a pleasant change it is too.

So, FOX+1 starts tomorrow then on 199 (XL upwards only)

With FOX and National Geographic moving into the L package, it's becoming better value than ever. A cheaper option for those who don't want over the top services like BT Sports or HD. I like it.

But as a company which now owns the entire network surely they shouldn't do this in future and should understand their network?

It was exactly the same when i was with Talktalk i was lucky enough to be part of their Youview trial , that got trialed with limited people area by area until they were certain the network could handle the demand.
VM ofcourse would easily handle Netflix demand but it's better safe than sorry.
All areas will have it very soon trust me on this :)

Just noticed that the L package on it's own without phone, broadband or TiVo is only £21.50 per month. That to me is pretty good value for what your getting. Whilst the SKY Entertainment package for the same price includes SKY+ the channel offering is simply not as impressive.

You'd get the Tivo box with that for a extra £5p/m which still offers better value than Sky at full price.

Yeah, and no need for broadband to be able to watch the on demand or catch up content.

Glad to see Virgin shaking up their packages, just in time for my SKY contract to expire :D

Purely out of curiosity what is the going rate for either VIP or XL on mates rates? Mrs. Chad and I now have friends and family who work for SKY and Virgin.

You'd be better of going for one of the collections mate tvxl , 60mb broadband , basic phone is £39.99p/m for 6 months atm then £62.99p/m afterwards.
VIP is £64.99p/m for 6 months then £115.99p/m afterwards.

Going to keep my options open.

Will give SKY a call next month to confirm I wish to cancel. Will then sit tight to see if they offer me the highly publicised 75% off rebate for 12 months to stay. For 75% off per month you can keep your TiVo, Netflix, BT Sports and the rest :p:

Plenty of good value options out there at the moment. Keeping a close eye on how Now TV develops.

Yes it will certainly be useful when there are recording clashes but alas some will still moan and grunt today and say its a waste of time.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

I wonder though if all these additions to XL, Netflix, BT Sport and moving of channels between packages is effecting the chances of getting offers and discounts through retentions given the increased costs they are absorbing.

Both myself, my next door neighbour and a colleague at work, all of whom have the VIP package, have been approached with discounted offers from Sky. All off us have then talked to retentions and been offered naff all, other than reductions by way of reduced services. I also came away with the impression from both the calls I made that they didn't seem that bothered with virtually no attempt to convince me that VM services were better than Sky's.

So now I have on the bench the SKY World HD package + multiscreen + Talk anytime + retaining the 120meg broadband (at the new £37-50/month price), all at 20/month less than I was paying for VIP.

So with regret I am off.
