Whilst I'm in the 'reminders aren't needed on tivo' camp, they were important on V+. It had 3 tuners, but only 2 recorded. Therefore, reminders served an important function for the third tuner.

In my view, if all the tuners in a PVR record (whatever number of tuners there are), setting record, negates the need for Reminders.

It may be, that as people get used to using record rather than reminders, they may come to a point where they don't miss reminders?

Two tivos insatalled today; Two installers came and one did one, and one did the other. took about an hour in total, but a good chunk of that was waiting for it to download information.

Still playing and working things out ATM but so far very pleased.

Why would I need to record it , if I intend to watch it live?

Why not? It's easy enough to delete when you're done with it.

My take on reminders is this, say tonight's football comes on at 7.30pm and Im intending to watch it live but happen to be catching up on some news , I can set a reminder which automatically alerts me that the football is about to start which I can select and it turns over for me and effectively stops me clock watching.
Or you could just set it to record and do exactly the same.

So what would happen if you're about to switch over to the footy and the phone rang? Or someone came to the door?

I usually find myself disagreeing with Carl. Does this rare occurence of me agreeing with him on reminders mean the end of the world is near? Glad I got my tivo before it happens! LOL :D
