Its the case all over , HD downloads cost more than SD , Netflix charge more now I believe to include HD streaming and Blue Ray costs more than DVD.

Sort of, you need to go for the two concurrent streaming plan to access HD. Whether that's charging extra for HD or not is a question.

But surely if the pricing was purely down to the amount of concurrent streams the single stream at £5.99 would also include HD which it doesn't , so anyone wanting HD is forced to pay another pound whether they need two concurrent streams or not.

BT Sport now also charge £3 for HD (VM platform being the exception).

The other issue being where will BT Sports and Eurosport channels go? Eurosport being the most interesting to watch at its now, in effect, controlled by Liberty/John Malone, owners of VM.

Good point.

At time posting I only know the following.

Channels will move in Summer 2014.
the maybe list of channels numbers for Sky Sports from after the world cup.
The launch date of the missing Sky Sports HD Channels (Bar Sky Sports News HD) - But that info is still under DNP.

That would count as one bid and the Premier League will not sell all packs to one bidder. Therefore, another bidder like beINSport or EuroSport would step in. The key benefit for BT and Sky is exclusitivity; having the same rights diminishes the benefits of EPL rights considerably.

Premier League The Premier League's live audio-visual UK broadcast rights are sold in three-season packages in a heavily regulated auction process. For the purposes of that process the rights are sold in six packages of 23 matches with no single broadcaster allowed to purchase all six. The packages are labelled A-F and are distinguished by the time at which certain matches can be broadcast. For example Package A is for 23 matches per season to be broadcast on a Sunday at 16.00 and Package D is for 23 matches per season to be broadcast on a Saturday at 17.30.

Just before anyone ask:

The Sky Sports HD Channels will not launch on July 17th.

Media Boy HQ has seen the real launch date but it still under DNP as of July 1st at 14.52.

Without being critical...I do not see the point of DNPs.
Whether they launch tomorrow or in 6 weeks time, us, as the customer can have no control over it.

Sky and VM will both know the exact date and I'm sure more people than those on here will know too.
Having a date they will launch will also stop loads of questions being thrown towards MB too :-)

I cant use the DNP info until my insiders say I can do so or an other insider got some info.

All I can say they will launch anytime from July 14th to July 19th.

Careful what you wish for. If businesses can't make money from HD, you won't get HD.

Are VM that worried about what 47 people on an internet forum know?

Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 47 (12 members and 35 guests)

I'm sure that if all 47 of us say we want the prices dropped they wouldnt do it. So why would they care if 47 people knew information about new channel launches? I just dont see the logic of DNPs....but ok, that's just me.....
