My take on reminders is this, say tonight's football comes on at 7.30pm and Im intending to watch it live but happen to be catching up on some news , I can set a reminder which automatically alerts me that the football is about to start which I can select and it turns over for me and effectively stops me clock watching.

Spot on mate i made a similar point about two pages ago.!:)

I can set up a remote record on my computer when I log in but when I try using my Blackberry its says I have no active tivo. Has anyone tried using their mobile and been able to get a recording?

I've set up my mobile to record The Simpsons at 6.30pm, will let you know if it works. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Apollo mobile and just added a shortcut to the site on my main screen :)

Not had any success doing the same with my iPod Touch so far

Even when I had my V+ I never ever used the reminder feature. Last time I set one was back when I still had a Pace STB!

That certain satellite company still have Press Select to set reminder or R to record on their latest HD software so they must have enough customers who also find it a handy feature.

No. It's because not all their customers have the recording facilities of a Sky+

Can I just say that I have never had to use reminders when I had a V+ or even now when I have got the TIVO.

The only reminder that I need is my partner as she has nearly every days TV viewing mapped out and the only thing i need to focus on is the sport when i need to watch it

That is what a forum is for , if everybody stayed silent how would VM and TIVO know what the customer wants , however I do agree it wouldn't be a major issue to include the feature , as you say those who want it could use it and the rest just leave alone.
