What's wrong with on the cheap, sorry, "at the most advantageous price for the customer"? I see ESPN on Sky being advertised as 'from £9'; if VM can deliver it under that price, then it's not dragging their feet, it's a good bit of negotiation. And as others have pointed out, the channel doesn't start for another week, so there's time yet.

VM have a duty to the customer to provide the best entertainment and sport for us on cable.

VM have no duty to the customer other than what's written in the Ts&Cs. And that won't include adding new channels at any cost.

Get over yourself. This is rapidly becoming a vm vs sky war again. Fan boys (you know who you are) this is a coming soon topic and you are getting people's backs up which is not a good thing. Opinions are valued but not when it is the same bs everytime

Are you on a website saying Sky are good and Virgin are bad? Are you 4? There's a great little indie club in Manchester called 42nd Street, head over there on a Friday night and grab yourself a girl.

Back on topic.... erm....something about HD.

this is getting silly, now, in my opinion.

What has Blu-ray got to do with 'coming soon to Virgin TV'?

Your comment regarding SD as a 'blurry mess' is your experience, based on your equipment and in my opinion the post should reflect that, not be stated as an apparent 'fact' which may mislead people genuinely trying to ascertain what is possible when comparing mainstream TV between platforms???

So out of over 200 channels on Sky you can only watch 30 :shocked:

Being a bit over dramtic aren't we? How do you manage when you go round friends houses for the evening?

When did I say I had Sky? I wouldn't touch anything from Murdoch with a barge pole. The man is the **** of the earth.

I just have the cheapest Virgin package (the free one) with a V+ and watch BBC HD. When they add new HD channels I may consider upgrading the package, depending on how good the programming is.

I mostly watch stuff on blu-ray and from Apple TV. The V+ is turned on once or twice a week.

Right gents it would be nice if we leave this thread to what it's really about..what is coming SOON to Virgin TV, not what we all have on our wish lists...which is not worth getting hot under the collar about.;)

BBCHD = 17.6Mbps bitrate, 1920x1080i, 2.0/5.1 448kbps AC3 Audio.
National Geographic HD = 16.8Mbps bitrate, 1920x1080i, 5.1 384kbps AC3 audio. Probably 2.0 for some documentaries. Screenshot - http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/915...2520h51m28.png
MTVHD = 15.0Mbps bitrate, 1920x1080i, 2.0 384kbps AC3 Audio, possibly 5.1 for some music video/concerts. Screenshot - http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/814...2117h08m02.png
FX HD = 15.0Mbps bitrate, 1920x1080i, 2.0 384kbps AC3 audio, possibly 5.1 for some shows. Screenshot: http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/4448/fxhd.png

NOTE: post updated as Virgin are now testing with improved video bitrate for Channel4HD and National Geographic HD of 16.8Mbps instead of 15.0Mbps that they were testing with a few days ago. Audio for channel4hd was incorrectly stated as 192kbps .MP2 2.0 it is actually AC3 2.0/5.1 depending on the show and it is 384kbps bitrate. Screenshots have been re-uploaded as tinypic was resizing them to a lower res than the 1920x1088 that they are. HD screenshot of a channel4HD show added too (the e4/channel4 show Skins).

That was CW areas but here is some news on Channels testing in Ex-ntl areas:

VMTest 1 is now also testing the full epg for Ch4

VMTest 2 is now also testing the full epg of National Geographic

VMTest5 & 6 is testing History HD with no Epg.
