ITV won't do it, as any criticism of any car or product will lead to a loss in advertising revenue from the company concerned.

Netflix is a strong possibility.

If that is the case then Netflix will be getting a new subscription from me :)

Now a painful thorn has been removed from their side, I dare say a good few bottles of fizz will be popped amongst the great and the good at the Beeb. Wonder if any of it will find it's way onto expenses...

It's ironic that JC was so instrumental in his own downfall but it certainly appears there was little room for manoeuvre.

I dare say the choice of his successor, if indeed there is one, will reveal a lot about the BBC hierarchy's feeling's about JC's outlook and humour. Are we going to get an equally irreverent personality or someone whose face fits? If there is a new series it'll be interesting to see how the viewing figures compare.

Doubt they will have a series if May and Hammond carry out their threat and walk from the BBC. I will not be watching Top Gear at all on BBC now without Clarkson. Bloody fools.

Again. Not really anything they could do.

Top Gear will continue but how is the question. I think May and Hammond will leave but they might wait to see what offers come in for them as a trio. No point leaving the BBC until they have an offer unless they simply don't want to do the show either way.

I think the series might do ok if they managed to keep the other two and got it right on the host. The Top Gear production team and writers also don't get enough credit for the show. The stunts, the races, the locations and the concepts are ultimately organised by them. I think they could continue to make a success with the show if they got the right host for that format.

No indeed as the bookies have Jodie Kidd as the strong favourite this morning to replace Clarkson.

I started watching The Classic Car Show and quickly realised what a plank she is and promptly deleted the series link.

Top Gear is in enough, probably terminal, trouble without inflicting her upon it.

There is not much time for a decision as there contracts run out next week. As for keeping the other two i think you will see the devil ice-skating to work before that.

The problem is which broadcaster has the money to bankroll the show, and the creative freedom (Read: Not dependant on keeping advertisers happy) to stage it?

Netflix?

Discovery?

Considering the money it can make it could end up bank rolling it's self. I believe that's how it was on the BBC.

Would love to see how much this will end up costing the BBC in the long run.

I heard a rumour that Jenny Jones* is in the running to replace Clarkson in a revamped show devoid of testosterone and internal combustion engines. In a thinly disguised reference to Clarkson, the new show is to be called 'On Yer Bike'... :D

Hurray!

Now we just need the arrogant Dave to get the sack and we'll all be happy.

No, we won't "all" be happy - you would be, and others of your ilk....
