Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015
I got a letter, merely dated "December", so I guess they're not done yet.

Well it looks like I will be leaving Virgin after being with the cable group for over 20 years.
I can't justify having to pay those charge's, they have tried to give an offer but nothing like the one I was getting £22 discount. |

Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015
So this is what happened. Whilst speaking with Sky they mentioned that even if I only purchased two boxes from them, if I had another two boxes they would install all four. As it happens, I already had a Sky HD+ box from our previous house and a non-HD box. However, a quick look on ebay shows I could pick up another for a few quid so I went back to VM armed with these facts. Basically, to move to Sky and Plusnet there would be a monthly cost of £91.99 with an upfront cost of £65.98 making the 12 month spread £97.48 per month. This would increase to £124 after 12 months. My cost from February is £118.14 per month.
VM offered me a reduction to £107.00 for 6 months and then increased to £112.00. They then offered 3 months free Sky Movies and Sports and a one-off credit of £36 (to cover the cost of Sports & Movies HD) making the next 12 months average £97.75 per month (27p more than Sky/Plusnet). The cost will then increase to £112.00 but this is still £12 cheaper than Sky/Plusnet unless a deal could be negotiated with them in 12 months time. The VM offer is on a new 18 month contract which obviously is not important if they put the prices up again in 12 months! So basically, 27p more for 12 months and then £12 less afterwards, they have upped my BB speed to 152mb (which is not that important to be honest as I mentioned in the earlier post) and I have BT Sport in multi-room which I would have lost (but again not important). And no SA (which I can honestly say that when I was with Sky for many years I never watched once). I have accepted their offer! So for me a result from doing a LOT of homework, and being polite with retentions. An overall saving of £20.39 per month - which will no doubt be spent by Mrs Bircho within 10 minutes of going out tonight...... |

Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015
Just phoned up twice for Customer Relations
First time, managed to get TV M+, BB L (100M), Phone XL, New SuperHub2AC, 6 months Netflix and 3 months Sky Movies and Sky Sports for £34 a month Just phoned up again, managed to haggle the 3 months Sky Movies and Sky Sports with free HD Pack for the 3 months Nice one VM. Oh, and if you speak to Jack within the Stratford-Upon-Avon one.. watch out.. He knows the Sky packages backwards ;) incredibly helpful and persistent guy though! |

Inflation has nothing more to do with interest rates than Ryanair fares.

Well that's a result but TBH i'm not going to phone them and plead for a decent price, feck 'em, i'll just drop their services and realise what i'm paying isn't worth what they're charging. i have the new Humax box being delivered tomorrow. After 25 odd years i've had enough now. |
