They have no choice, as I have said although there is competition BT and Sky are still paying and taking the risk so they can to a point call the shots and force VM into hanging fire. This means that BT and Sky both get to benefit from their purchases and VM don't get a freebie. It is not VM agreeing to it, VM have no choice in the matter.

In effect if VM want to have BT sports or any Sky channel then they must allow the owner of the channel to market it for their own benefit first then VM can have it. If VM disagree then that is down to them and they can do without, if they want the channels that someone else is paying for they have to play by other people rules.

Mad Dogs immediately springs to mind on Sky 1. Great cast with great chemistry and good dialogue. Also enjoyed Spy and Moone Boy, Strike Back. By contrast I thought the Alan Partridge stuff made for Sky Atlantic was dreadful, and massively disappointing since I'm a fan.

VM have no leverage at all in the matter, they will get what they are given with regards to BT. If you think otherwise you are either blatantly ignoring fact or are a blinkered fool.

My immediate reaction was to agree with you, but then I thought it might just explain the phantom web page confirming Bt sports which was removed within a day and the story about Virgin being back in talks about Atlantic which was recently leaked. That all smacks of a company with something to say but unable to say it, doesn't it?

Similar shows to us , we liked Mad Dogs , Strike Back (a co-production between BSKYB and Cinemax) , Spy. I have to admit though the wife's choices are Stella and Mount Pleasant not everyone's cup of tea :p: I enjoyed the Bradley Wiggins Documentary and Networks of Power both productions for Sky Atlantic.

In my opinion VM will add Sky Atlantic at some point soon and I don't buy into Sky launching another Entertainment channel their content would be spread way to thinly.

That's what I thought too when taking part in the survey about a potential new channel launch. I think if SKY do launch a new channel it might simply be a re-branding of one of their less popular channels. TNA Wrestling on Challenge TV would be a perfect fit for what was being proposed.

I hadn't even heard of Networks of Power until I read your post, but having just read a synopsis of it I would have watched it if it were available to me. I would argue that some of the programming on Sky Atlantic doesn't really fit with the popular perception of its actual purpose, which is for most people to show US, and more specifically hbo, content.

I've said before, and I genuinely mean it, that I'm not really fussed about the channel itself. I watched the whole first series of Game of Thrones when it was recently on Sky 1. It should, on the basis of other things I like to watch, have been right up my street but I found myself in a minority of one who didn't like it. And besides, I have plenty to watch without it. To that end I would rather the ESPN money was spent on sport content - but not Bt sports. Every xl customer should get approx. £ 10 discount on Sky Sports, or the hd sub for free. Firstly this would cement the relationship with Sky by making their sports channels more attractive to Virgin customers and increasing the revenue from Sky's largest wholesale customer, and secondly, since not every xl subscriber would take up the offer, it would still leave Virgin with some spare cash for channel acquisitions.

No need to argue that fact with me in fact its been raised numerous times via official Sky forums/feedback , the channels are a mess in my opinion. Sky Living is supposedly a female skewing channel with shows like 'Britain and Ireland's Next top model' mixed with the likes of 'Hannibal' etc which to me seems bizarre , I do believe however before a big shake up can be done Sky need to work with other platforms to negotiate carriage of all their entertainment channels.

As I have said previously, BT are going to have a hard time explaining to the Premiership Football and Rugby people why the potential marketplace for their sponsors has dropped by a few million. BT will do a deal with VM, the question is when.

Has anyone checked out the UK TV website as it has been updated with Drama and it says that SKY and VM carry all the UKTV channels or is it just me?

With Ginx.tv launching Tuesday i'm just wondering if we're going to start seeing more VM exclusive channels coming.
I think we already have 3 don't we?
Also regarding ESPN closing VM could maybe launch a movie channel and place that in the XL pack or charge a small monthly fee for none XL subscribers?

Don't see what is so hard to believe? SKY and BT will have made an agreement with VM to show their respected channels, but not until they have marketed them first. Although the post doesn't make clear I am not saying the VM have agreed to it as such, I am saying that they don't have too much of a say in it.
