Re: Virgin media price increase

£37.99
Line Rental 30 May - 29 June £12.99
Phone, Broadband XL & TV Saving 30 May - 29 June -£18.50
Talk Weekends 30 May - 29 June £0.00
M+ (Starter) 30 May - 29 June £6.50
Broadband XL(30) 30 May - 29 June £37.00

So if I am right M+ can be reverted to a free M for tv? and I will can the line rental but will increase my broadband subs a bit.

The surprising thing is that you were willing to pay £10.25 for more than one box. How did they ever justify that? And when are they going to drop the charge altogether?

Well they did give me a free second Sky+HD 500gb box and free fitting which involved them giving us a brandnew dish and all new cables. A second box in another room with all TV channels is worth £30 a month to me to be able to watch some of what I want lol.So for £10.25 im happy.

In our house who gets controll of the tv goes like this.

1st-Mrs
2nd-oldest teenage kid
3rd-youngest teen
4th ME.

Now if they would just LLU my local exchange so that I can have ANYTIME+, Although I'm on a pretty good discount right now.

Yes I was really making the point that they all have charges that some may call a rip off, but at the end of the day they all have to make a profit. I'm not happy about this latest increase but were I to move I would have to pay £10.24 for HD, I would lose ESPN unless I paid a minimum £9 and I would get worse broadband. I know I would get more HD channels but as I don't have premium channels the extra ones aren't worth the money for me.
For me the telephone isn't worth the money but the extra services in my package more than make up for it.

It's M that requires a phonline. M+ is the lowest TV package available without one

But there is no guarantee that ditching the line with make the bundle better value

VM make it hard to not pay for something you dont use then. :(

So I either have to have a phoneline I dont use or a tv package I dont use.

Or I can have no tv at all and just broadband? But the broadband with a ramped up price due to no phoneline.

I think the time to worry is if they put a price on HD channels, As they must be considering this.

Sky inceases there price Sept / Oct and it is only a couple of quid and to be quite honest, that is reasonable conisdering the amount of channel they supply.

I`m not sure virgin would go down that road as the cost of hd channels is already hidden in your tv costs. If they did add an additional cost for hd then I,like many others, would switch to sky. I have already looked at skys website several times in recent months to see whats on offer and how much. I was very close the other day to signing up to sky and saying goodbye to virgin but that misguided `loyalty` keeps nagging at me.

With less people using land lines you would hope they would cut prices to entice customers to join them.

£13.90 just for a phoneline is a bit harsh when you think Talktalk will give you a phoneline and an ADSL-2 "upto" 24mb connection for £15.

Although that connection could be anywhere from 4mb-24mb( where we are its between 11 and 12mb.

They must be making a fortune out of the phone lines seeing as they use up so so little of the bandwidth capacity\spectrum or whatever anyway.

The new price list is now on VM's website. Free calls to include 0870 non geographic numbers (page 5). Better late than never !

It's a pity 0845 numbers aren't inlcuded too - they're a PITA.

Does a price increase mean my contract with them can be cancelled

BenMcr 22-06-2011 13:17

Re: Virgin media price increase

It's the affected service only, so for this rise, only the phone
