I know what you're feeling, I love the stuff too but it's one of the bad triggers for Crohn's (yeast extract is a common one), so just a little can make me quite ill.

Well the consultant who l now see in Plymouth told me straight this morning that there is not a lot that can be done for me now unless l have a heart transplant and to have that l need to be on my last legs basically because as we all know there are many out there who are worse then l so unless my heart function goes down another 15% then they will continue to monitor me closely and keep my heart function as stable as they can as they have prescribed me another tablet this morning and l now have my own local heart failure nurse who will come and visit me on a three monthly basis.

Thank you everybody for your kind wishes.

Sadly life can be pretty tough sometimes for many of us but it does have its special moments though from time to time and that makes it well worth staying alive in my book.

I agree Den. I know it may sound trite but it has been the truly bad times I have had that have made me appreciate all the good things that have happened, and are still happening in my life.

Before I was ill I tended to coast along not really seeing how lucky I have been. Now I try to take one day at a time and snatch any morsel of enjoyment I can get my hands on. This afternoon I shall make chocolate chip cookies with my grandson, the dust will only look worse if someone writes in it so it can wait to be cleared away another day. :D

Well no, but looking on the bright side they do tell me I can have what I want when I'm on the dialyses machine so every cloud and all that :)

I got even more appointments for next week in the post today - in all four days the hospital is open and four separate appointments next Friday.

I am busier now than when I was working.

Oh and I caught a cold which is turning nasty so I'm not even sure I'll get home tomorrow when I've been to clinic.

There's also some on-line breaker networks like 247spares that will mail order the parts.

Great for things like headlamps that are just silly prices at the dealers.

A right pain, but at least with a Ford it's easy to find new or refurbished parts when you need them.

Luton airports short stay car park!!!

What is really amounts to is hardly any free spaces, it took me 20 mins to get a space and that was pure luck as i saw someone going to their car, an area full of gravel and pot holes where you frequently have to back right down the lanes again as they're often blocked off.

Had a bad migraine overnight so didn't feel like a ride into London for the National Archives. Now find out that weather is due to be bad in London for Thursday, so in 2 minds as to whether to go into London or not now. Might still go in and skip National Archives, love just riding the Underground.

Still have the ambition of doing all stations in one day, not fussed about setting a new record for doing it though.

Oh yes I remember den all too well. Whilst going to primary school in Highbury, we moved out to Walthamstow and sometimes when traffic was bad my mum had to abandon the car at a tube station and we would tube it in to Finsbury Park to get a bus to school. Oh happy days.

My favourite line is the Docklands Light Railway.

As long as it's a different patient transport driver it'll be ok :)

The last one did about 80 all the way to Papworth there and back - then tried to sell me some kind of 'herb' drink / stuff to 'cure' my Diabetes / Kidney stuff.

I never get that kind of crap going to addenbrookes as they use a different service.

Good luck dilli, I too have hospital tomorrow. My diabetic retinopathy is well overdue, I never got round to having it done before Christmas and then with all this uncertainty over a work placement through the Jobcentre put it off this year. Called Thursday at half 4, got an appointment tomorrow morning at 9.

I have only been to Lister a couple of times but I think they just had a major overhaul so let us know what it's like.

Just a few eye drops put in, and then 2 photos taken of each eye. All over within 30 minutes, and for the first time in around 3 years I was able to read two lines below the line with my right eye and 4 lines below the line with my left eye. Which hopefully means when I have my eyes tested this Summer they have improved on last year.

That's brilliant Mark, I think going by your post your eyes have improved since last year.

That's sounds like good news Mark. Do you still have to wait for the full Retinopathy report?

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Yes, they say it takes 2 weeks but I always have it within a week. Hoping good news again, my eyes do feel a lot better than last year at my eye test. Maybe it was just a blip last year.

Mine takes about a week as well. Always a heart thumping moment when I open the envelope. Hope yours is the "no action needed" type as mine was a couple of months go.

MarkC1984, dill-theclaw, weenie, joglynne, and denphone, here was me feeling sorry for myself, having been diagnosed with COPD recently after giving up smoking 17years ago (after 38years), my problem fades into insignificance. My thoughts are with you all. :ghugs: x

Nice to hear from you Tinky and l am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and don't be silly as any diagnosis of any disease is going to get anybody down to start off with and l just hope you are not suffering too much currently.:hugs:

The strange thing is when l was diagnosed l was actually pretty happy as l had gone on for quite a few years without any diagnosis even though l was telling doctors there was a serious problem but alas l had to wait about 7 years before l was finally diagnosed and by that time significant irreparable damage had been done to my heart muscle.

Great news Mark.

Thought you'd been quiet lately Tinky. Hope you're not feeling too bad and that things improve now you have your diagnosis and can hopefully get proper treatment.

Not at all Tinky, I'm sorry to hear that you have recently been diagnosed with COPD. Take care :hugs:

That's nasty stuff, COPD. Both grandparents have it, my Nan is only borderline but she won't take her inhalers unless she needs them and wonders why she struggles to breathe. My granddad on the other hand, well he is full blown COPD needs oxygen all the time. Over the last 18 months, he has been in hospital with pneumonia at least 4 times. He'll be 79 this year, seriously have my doubts about him seeing his 80th. Not that I will shed many tears over him.

Unfortunately we didn't realise what those ciggies would do apart from cancer. I gave up many years ago but I'll bet there's still a legacy. Hope things work out OK for you.

Hi Tinky lovely to see you posting on the forum. Sorry to hear about the COPD diagnosis. Hope it is under control and not restricting your intake of Vimto. :)

How did the house move go and have you got the new place sorted out? Do you have a garden and ...... OK OK I know, stop being soooo nosey. :D :D :D
