Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.

MB has carried on posting as normal since he said he's received more info, he hasn't gone to a negative tone. so i'm assuming it's probably good news.

Not reading too much into Virgin saying nothing yet. This embargo won't run out until after the channel launches on the 1st surely if it's about getting as many people as possible to switch. Also Virgin won't want loads of people getting the half price offer with half price BT Sport once it's announced, they'll wait until 00.01 on the 1st. It is annoying though. Should be illegal for somebody to win football rights and hold people to ransom with them. If it doesn't get put on Virgin I can see the Premier League kicking off and ensuring that BT never gets a chance to bid on the rights again. Surely their intention of opening up the bidding wasn't so that this sort of bollocks could happen? And have millions of fans denied access to the games with their current setup. They after all need as many people as possible to see their product.

Can't see sky Atlantic joining vm anytime soon having just checked out there web site and clearly stating exclusive as for bt sports a friend of mine has just had is call from recommend a friend and was about to sign up until bt sports came into the conversation,to cut a long story short he came off the phone and rung sky and is having installed Monday.Think we are gonna have a lot of disappointed people next week

If there is no BT Sports and or Atlantic they can whistle if they think I'm going to stick around and pay the same amount for the XL package given the loss of all that sport that was in ESPN.

I've been reading this for a couple of weeks, and have joined so I can give my opinion... I reckon the news will be good, and here's why. I called Virgin a week or so ago and complained (a lot) at the prospect of a reduced service for the same cost. I was told that they're sorry it doesn't look good, but that they hope to have news soon, AND as a gesture of faith, if I'm not happy after 31st July, Virgin will let me leave with no penalty. I'm only four months into my contract....
I'd love to have Sky Atlantic, but really I want the football, and the baseball.....

That is a good offer. Essentially switch to SKY and for the next 12 months you'll get BT Sports free for a year, if you take the SKY Sports bundle. If you want BT Sports in HD however you'll have to pay the extra £3 HD charge yourself. Free unlimited broadband for a year and a free 2TB SKY+ box. It's got to be worth considering if BT Sports doesn't launch on Virgin.

It isn't on Sky, but you can access it using Sky equipment. Subtle, but actually very important difference, and key to why it can't just suddenly appear on Virgin without successful negotiations.

Hello to all the newbies, you guys are certainly stirring things up on here (in a good way). I enjoy the speculation (must be my age,) but I don't think we are getting quite enough speculation, as such I will try and add something else into it. I think we will have Universal HD launched on the same day as BT Sports and Atlantic, positive mental attitude and all that......thoughts anyone?;-)

We wish lol, clearly vm customer services are saying anything to try and keep customers, weather it's lies or not the 1st August will be the proof .one is starting to think that rumours have been false all along and there are customers still out there that don't know espn is disappearing, sky and bt will be rubbing there hands next week if I was them I would take extra staff on from Thursday there is gonna be calls from a lot of disgruntled vm customers

I'd love to have Sky Atlantic, but really I want the football, and the baseball.....

Regrettably, i think you're spot on. Whole thing smacks of VM taking its customers for a bunch of mugs - which we probably are. Hope they have extra staff in the phones on 1 August, but they won't of course. Suspect cancelling on that date will require lots of patience.

I think VM will come up with something to try and pacify their customers, but i fear it wont be what the majority crave!

What makes you think there will be lots of cancellations. VM will have calculated the impact just as they did with the sky channel issue a few years back.

Interestingly, the whole of the liberty board are in the uk at the moment?

Maybe virgin may repackage there xl pack to include : bt sports 1 & 2 HD ,sky Atlantic sd HD, plus maybe include CI HD,nat wild HD, MTV classic as they be up to 13 channels launching on August 1st as reported earlier in the thread and there would be a lot of happier people on here going to be a very interesting day next Thursday

We do not even know the real names of the channels that Virgin are rumoured to be testing they are just been call 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' over on DS Forum.

"Now if you want to know something actually worthwhile, not that I would ever condone breaching Virgin Media terms and conditions, if you hook up a DVB-C compatible TV that can read channel lists from the NAT (if you don't know what that is, it's probably more hassle than its worth for you) the NAT in my area is listing 4 Test Channels A B C and D which were not there the other day and haven't (yet) downloaded into the service menu of my V+ (if that has any meaning at all)."

In my own view

-If Virgin Media are set to launch BT Sports we may also see ESPN and ESPN HD moving to new channels numbers - maybe even using the old Satanta Sports Channel number from Virgin Channels 538 to 543.

-Or maybe they are Sky Atlantic, Sky Atlantic HD (Rumours as 'may launch' on Virgin Channels 119 and 120 by Asian Channel), Sky News HD and Sky Sports News HD for all we know.

Thanks god it only six more nights to go...

If nothing happens bud it's people walking that's needed for them to wake up,as for liberty board in the uk they had better get off there arses and do something.this next week is gonna show what liberty are made of,bt are getting digs in with advertising and now are sky whilst yet again vm stay quiet.Maybe different owners but the old same problem remains COMUNICATION to customers none existent,Don't know if this is significant but I am still awaiting a reply from universal hd owners.could be there sick of my monthly emails or dare I say we could be close to finally seeing it.

This time next week BT Sports will either be on the Virgin EPG, or it won't be on the EPG. Not too long to wait now. Just to think, it was June last year when BT landed the rights.

Must admit it doesn't look great. BT are offering BT Sports for free. SKY are prepared to cover the cost of BT Sports for a full year for you if you move from Virgin to SKY. Virgin will need to come out fighting in the next week.

In their defence they can't really say anything other than "in negotiation" until there's a deal. Anything otherwise would fundamentally be misleading to customers and investors.

True, however as you can see the uncertainty plays into BTs hands at this stage therefore an early deal was never on the cards.

While this appears a massive issue on Internet forums the evidence from Setanta is this will be important to a tiny number of Virgin subscribers - maybe 200 000. Far less than Sky targeted in the Sky Basics dispute and we all know how "successful" that ended up.

Sky trying to nab customers before VM announce it will be free in XL:) Sky and BT just doing what Bomber said, stopping VM announcing they are getting BT sports before a certain date so they can both target VM customers:)

Agreed. If Sky were so sure Virgin weren't getting it, then they wouldn't need to do an offer to pay for a years free BT Sport would they. The customers who wanted BT Sport would come anyway and pay the £15 a month willfully. They are simply taking advantage off the Virgin customer uncertainty because of the embargo period imo.

Quite alot of people will look abit silly having switched so soon imo.

Sky's deal is them trying to save broadband customers instead of them going to BT BB for the 'free' sport.

Almost everything I watch is recorded, and I skip through the adverts. There hasn't been anything worthwhile watching on ESPN for a month or so either. I think you'd all be very surprised about how few people even realise anything is happening! I have little doubt that Virgin could hold off any action until just before the start of the season and still see minimal impact on subscriber numbers. We mustn't fall in to the trap of thinking that those of us interested enough to spend our time on Cableforum are representative of the majority of Virgin's customer base - I'm quite convinced we're not!

To prove them wrong perhaps someone - with a lot of spare time could list ( with dates posted perhaps) the last ten postings of whats coming & when that HAPPENED as and when stated.
