The Sauerlands Tweeted almost 2 weeks ago there was big news coming in regards to their German shows being available in the UK. Since then nothing more has been said however it's expected their shows will be available via Matchroom fight pass.

Mayweather-Pacquiao fight

"Economics aside, the most fascinating aspect of this mega-fight is that it will force bitter TV rivals to collaborate for the pay-per-view broadcast. Time Warner’s HBO, which has a deal with Pacquiao, and CBS’ Showtime, which airs Mayweather’s fights, will collaborate and broadcast the bout on both networks simultaneously."

Jeff Powell has suggested in the Daily Mail today Boxnation may charge subscribers £12.00 extra on top of their usual subscription fee to watch Mayweather Vs. Pacman, if they win the rights.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/box...dding-war.html

"Frank Warren’s dedicated BoxNation channel is believed to be considering adding a comparatively modest one-off pay-per-view supplement to its £12-a-month subscription rates for this event of such magnitude."

I would not be happy with this at all, especially as Boxnation clearly state on their website:

"It's available to all HD enabled B0xNati0n subscribers on the Sky TV platform at no extra cost, and with no additional sign up needed! We'll never ask subscribers to pay-per-view to watch fights"

it doesn't say anything about an extra £12 maybe £5 would be ok

I can say hand on heart the article has been changed since I first read it this morning. It definitely did suggest £12 extra on top this morning when I read it at work. I've just come home and copied and pasted the article without noticing the change. I Tweeted Boxnation this morning with a link to the story telling them I'd cancel if the £12 additional charge was true. That's my story and I'm sticking to it :D

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

The match is made for Sky PPV. There won't be enough advertising to make it profitable for ITV to bid and most people wouldn't sign up to BoxNation for just this fight. I don't know if BT has the infrastructure for PPV events and can't see it being part of the regular BT Sport service.
Sky should also put it on their Now TV service as a PPV to gain extra revenue and customers. Could even some sell some NowTV boxes with the fight included in the price.

I found this comment over on DigitalSpy quite interesting:

Originally posted by Los_Tributos Boxnation have finally realised that spending big on fights (both domestically and internationally) after the initial spike, makes no difference to subscriber numbers in the long term. BoxNation does seem squeezed now between Sky and the PSBs (ITV/Channel 5).

Quite probably. I sometimes think we are all getting so reactive to small pieces of information (like Twitter and snippets of information off the web generally) and nannying that before much longer we won't be able to think for ourselves at all!

To wit, the car that recently drove into the sand, because that's the way the Satnav said to go.

The lift I use to get into work sets me up for the day. 'Door opening. Door closing'. The doors to the loo have a notice saying 'Beware of opening door'!

Pathetic.

I know what you mean, i've seen signs above sinks that say "caution, hot tap may contain hot water"!

I guess lifts say things verbally to help the sight impaired.

People blaming the satnav for their lack of commonsense is funny. But some of the other signs do make sense; with an ageing population and 850,000 people suffering from dementia I don't think these signs won't go away. Not everyone has the same abilities as we currently do.

I could see Boxnation charging non-subscribers a one-off fee for the fight, subscribers wouldn't need to pay any extra.

Maybe that's what the rumour is and it'd be acceptable for everybody, i would have thought.

The Daily Mail have reported it's now a £12 million shoot out between SKY and Boxnation for Mayweather Vs Pacman.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/box...-Pacquiao.html

Interestingly they suggest the final say on who will broadcast the fight in the UK goes to Mayweather!

The last time SKY broadcast a Mayweather fight was against Mosley back in 2010. Boxnation have shown Mayweathers last 5 fights. Could be interesting.

Boxing Channel Media Ltd's (BoxNation being the brand) annual turnover is only about £5m so I doubt it can realistically splash out £12m on this match on its own. Indeed, Boxing Channel Media Ltd does not even need to appoint auditors as it is a small company.
So, I can only see it being on Sky despite BoxNation showing Mayweather's last five fights.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/box...cquiao-UK.html

"The bidding war for the British television rights for the Fight of the Century is coming to its climax. Sky Sports have been considered favourites to screen Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao since their $300 million purse deal was struck for May 2 in Las Vegas. They appeared to have moved firmly into pole position when given access to Mayweather’s gym in Las Vegas prior to joining the battery of cameras at the official red carpet launch of the promotion in Los Angeles."

"However, it is understood that Frank Warren has been in urgent discussions with Mayweather’s own promotion company and Pacquiao’s Top Rank promoters overnight on Wednesday. Warren has built a strong relationship with the Americans while screening a steady flow of major fights in the US on his dedicated BoxNation channel, including Mayweather and Pacquiao bouts."

"Sky are having to consider pushing their pay-per-view charge above their notional £20 barrier. Warren is believed to be offering an innovative package for his monthly subscription network which could raise the ante higher."

1andrew1 17-03-2015 22:23

Mayweather v Pacquiao

Whilst BoxNation is still in the bidding process, the Daily Telegraph states that it is up against both Sky and BT Sport. The successful bidder will be announced sometime this week with Sky the favourites. It is believed that the cost of buying the rights may be around £10m-£12m and if on Sky, would likely break all PPV records here. A Sky deal would be a flat fee and a share of the PPV revenue.

You might be able to throw Spike TV into the mix if the UK version follow their American counterparts when it starts in the UK on approx 10 April:

Seems like there's big plans in the pipeline for Boxnation. CEO George Warren has confirmed the following should be in place over the next 12 months:

1. On demand and catch up for TV subscribers

2. B0xnati0n day pass, similar to NOW TV SKY Sports Day pass, for those who just want to watch a particular fight

3. Channel rolled out to 2 / 3 other countries by the turn of the year

Can't see a day pass being available on Virgin Media but I'd certainly expect to see catch up and on demand.

Possibility to get Virgin back to the table to discuss a new deal? It's about time Boxnation HD launched.

To me, the only big news there is the channel being available in other countries which has been mentioned a lot in the past. It is the only way that I can see them becoming profitable. The day pass makes sense as BoxNation is on Amazon Fire.

Launching the channel in other territories was first mentioned by former chairman Richard Brooke about 18 months ago, and things have been quiet since. Back then he was talking about the channel launching in China. That's 1,375,000,000 potential new customer :D

The fact this news is coming from George Warren for me is pretty significant. Over the past 4 years everything that George has suggested was going to happen, in regards to the channel and their content has happened. He's not known for letting the cat out the bag until deals are signed and delivered, unlike his old man!

On 12.032H 27500 2/3 Box Nation HD is testing on Astra.

It is currently Free To Air and showing colour bars :)

Might be worth those with satellite tuning in as there might be some free boxing on offer (just my conjecture).

Interesting! Prompter Frank Warren confirmed a couple of weeks ago they hoped to launch Boxnation on UPC in Ireland by 19th December. Wonder if the channel is coming to Virgin Media in the UK and Ireland. Boxnation launched on Virgin at the start of December 2011. Wonder if a new carriage deal has been agreed?

I'm just speculating.

It's a real possibility that Frank Warren will work with Al Haymon, the man behind PBC. There's be rumours for a while that PBC was coming to the UK, but nothing has materialised.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/box...Gale-Amir-Khan

PBC have a massive roster of fighters. Warren has 30 live dates to fill, and plenty of money to play with. PBC want to come to the UK. It all seems to fit.
