Now Sky just needs to update Sky Go to support the iPhone 5's screen!

[Although it's not alone... BBC, ITV, C4, and Five have all been rather lame regarding updating their catch-up apps for the iPhone 5]

I'm not sure if they'd be able to rework the UI to be usable on a smaller mobile screen. Zeebox functionality is much more suited to tablet devices currently in my opinion.

I asked about this on the Sky help forums and was informed that it's something that is in the works. I guess that the Sky+ app is just the first one to be updated. :)

The installer should update your current 1TB off the DR stream which will give you the newer EPG with its catch up facility , is your new multiroom box a PVR or the non PVR ? If its the non PVR that will only receive the new EPG in early 2013.

The non PVR is called a SkyHD box it's a (DRX595)
The PVR is now referred to as Sky+HD (DRX890) and the 2TB Sky+HD is (DRX896)
Your existing 1TB should be a (DRX895) I believe.

Not sure where to post this, so sorry if it's in the wrong place, but just found out that Now TV, which, at this time, is effectively Sky Movies, currently has a special offer price of £8.99 p/m. Is this because the original £15 was not bringing in punters when compared to the £5/6 of Lovefilm and Netflix? I wonder how long the offer will go on for?

l suspect this is a offer up to Christmas PB as after you have had it for the promotional period it soon gets bumped up to the unrealistic £15 monthly subscription fee.

Sky always have offers for Movies and Sports , as a Sky Sports subscriber I pay an additional £8.00 a month for Sky Movies which to me represents value when compared to Lovefilm and Netflix's older movie offerings.

True but that is part of yor satellite sub. Now TV is competing with Netflix and Lovefilm. I find it interesting that they have reduced the price by a significant amount, and merely wondered why.

It's an introductory offer for new subscribers , you get 30 days free then 3 months at £8.99 before it reverts to £15.

Broadcast: BT secures Sky slots for sports channels

Quote:

BT has secured two EPG slots on the Sky platform in preparation for the launch of its sports channels.

The broadcaster, which has secured rights to air FA Premier League football, international football and Aviva Premiership rugby packages, has acquired the placeholders on the pay TV platform, which it has temporarily branded as Sailing 1 and Sailing 2.

Currently in testing and yet to go live, BT will rebrand and launch the channels next year, with viewers able to dial a phone number in order to access the content.

Due to BT’s existing infrastructure it is able to manage the customer relationship directly, rather than rely on Sky to re-sell its channels.

Your multiroom should already have it , maybe the installer didn't update the system software.
To update your multiroom box , do the following

1.Turn the box off at the wall
2. Press and hold the backup button on the top of your box and flick it on at the wall only release the backup button when you see 'Updating system software' on screen.

This should take 5-10 mins and should result in you having the new EPG. Keep us posted how you get on.

I have to say the "Clash Manager" feature is a work of genius. I just love the way it auto "suggests" alternate airings of shows, if available, to avoid the clash without you having to trawl through the listings to do it yourself.

You will be able to use catchup now on your multiroom if you can get your Internet connection through to it , it's probably worth setting up via Ethernet or homeplugs so as you can benefit from features such as planner sharing when they arrive.

Yes ring them up and they'll switch it on.

Go into Settings - Details and write down your viewing card number so as they know which account needs activating.

What do you make of the On Demand offering coming from VM ?

Now you have both boxes networked , the Sky+ ipad app should allow you to control them both. You should also be able to see both boxes listed by going into settings then Sky+HD box connectivity , this will allow you to change boxes and schedule recording across them both.

I really like the on demand, like how you can put programmes in your planner to watch when you are ready. Like having the boxsets of series to catch up on. Find it alot easier to navigate than virgin.

The iPad app is awsome. As was mentioned in an earlier post it suggests other showings if there is a recording clash. I sure in future updates it will just move the recording for you.

Spent a big chunk of my day watching movies in better HD quality than Virgin, and finding my way around the apps.

My parents have TIVO and I must admit I find Sky+HD On Demand far easier to navigate , plus the Sky content is all in HD unlike on Virgin.

Once shared recordings are activated , that will be another great feature to make use of.

I can see it being an advantage for families. Single guy, I am just fighting the many channels needing recorded at same time. I need another tuner, and 30 hour days to watch all the tv :D

It seems to me kind sir that you need a TiVo for your recording demands.:)

Yes, that is the problem. I would still want sky atlantic. So tivo solves nothing.

Presently I am recording on Sky Atlantic
Girls (good series)
House of Lies (funny)
Falcon (not watched yet)
Boardwalk Empire (fantastic)

My issue, just came back from 3 weeks hols, and have 87 hours of recorded tv shows to watch

My name is Colin, and I am an addict :D

Colin says he needs a extra tuner so why settle for second best when there is a far better option out there but alas some people will never be convinced by that.:)

Why don't you ask him that one , I'm sure he knows he's free to choose whichever platform he wants. Maybe you've convinced him to take a TIVO. :)

Sky have made it their intention in their latest bulletin to wholesale the channel thus expect deals sooner rather then later.

But will VM pay the wholesale price. IF it goes to VM i expect VM to get Sky Atlantic SD only and the HD version saying exclusive to Sky. Only time will tell, lets hope there is news soon.

---------- Post added at 14:57 ---------- Previous post was at 14:30 ----------

For anyone wanting to watch the F1 and Football at the same time. Not sure if this works on VM Tivo but im hoping that someone can test it.

Its a good idea from Sky

Kind of goes against what you tell us almost daily on here doesn't it , what was it there withholding their channels.

Well perhaps they have started to realise that there's more to gain by wholesaling channels rather then to continue to go down the narrow intransigent route.

Given that no one else has Atlantic, it's possible that they currently are. There seems to be a possibility that they may change that policy in the future.
