Yes there are issues at man u, so man u fans will talk about it. But bearing in mind the sniping towards man u that people like you and lippy do, it's no wonder we don't want to talk about your clubs. If you want people to talk about those issues, then stop the bias you have towards man u and other clubs. Why would anybody want to talk about your club, when you can't talk in a constructive and level headed way about our's.

Solskjaer's Christmas Target
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing the perfect Christmas present, a long-awaited return to the United first team.

The Norwegian has missed much of the past two seasons with a serious knee injury and has recently suffered a number of false dawns in the fight to restart his career. However, he remains positive that a return is not far away and says he is "feeling good at the moment"

He is lazy, but his passing is excellent. Play the ball on the floor and you'll see how good he is.

So when a Man Utd fan points out how rubbish the team is at the moment (which is what most of them are doing) it's ok, but when a non-Utd fan does, that's biased and unconstructive? Are you Ferguson in disguise, pedantic? You certainly have his double standards.

Well yes actually, when that person has a reputation of being rabidly anti-United and refuses to recognise their positive abilities. If that person had ever shown an ounce of objectivity then perhaps you'd have a point.

GO ON!!!!

Great to see the Norn Iron schoolboys keeping up the proud tradition of beating England, this time on English soil. ;)

England 0 - 1 Norn Iron. Goal scored by Corey Evans - A Man Utd youngster.

First time every Northern Ireland have won in England at this level. We now just need a win against Wales to ensure winning the Victory Shield.

The man u fans will post constructively about their own club, but its people like you and the other muppet, who just post sniping comments. I only posted when I see people like you and others constantly sticking the knife in, when other people are having a proper conversation about the current situation. You make out that you are joining in, whereas in fact, it's just a cheap shot everytime. You're typical of all anti-man u "supporters", very transparent. But hey ! Man Utd v Chelsea on Sunday.
As much as I hate to say it, I can see united getting annihilated, none of the recognised players will be back AFAIK, so I guess it will be more of the same, only this time conceding maybe 4 or even 5.
Uniteds players will be up for it, but as they will lack quality and Chelsea won't, I can see a big upset at OT come the weekend, I am dreading watching it.

Thing is, every team will go through a period where they are playing like they belong in a Sunday League. When I went to OT to watch Utd v Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, it was mediocre football by Utd and they deserved what they got, a draw. I can't for one minute see them beating Chelski on Sunday, a draw would be brill on current performances but it's quite amusing that everyone seems to have the knives out for Utd whether they win, lose or draw ;)

Sorry but my knives are still in the kitchen drawer! ;)

It is just after recent performances, especially after drawing and losing against a team who looked dire themselves, I am hoping and praying that either an atomic bomb has been detonated next to their posteriors or that the scoreline does not turn into a rubgy one. ;)

things aren't looking good for United at the moment... was at the Blackburn game a few weeks ago and even though we lost you could at least say we created chances and were unlucky to loose that one.. since then we have had the dire games with City and Liverpool and the rubbish of the past few games and really gone down hill.. have to say I agree with Keane and do most of the fans.. loosing and playing well is something I can take but loosing and playing like that is something else

As I said a few weeks ago things are so bad at the moment we now have a chant of "Attack Attack Attack" that shouldn't be happening and we are barely playing as a team at the moment.. we need a whole new midfield and Rio to start living up to his price tag and weekly wages.. can't see that happening at the moment and looks like the curtain is starting to draw down on the great United team from the 90s.. the new team Fergie is trying to create while it has some world class players, Rooney, Ruud, Heinze also has alot of dead wood, Flecther, Miller, Bellion, and even Scholes and Giggs are now past it

Off to the Palace v Sheffield United game on Sat anyway.. no AJ but hoping we can put in a decent performance.. this is the game where we have to show we are real title challengers

I agree, remember talkin bout this other day; we do need a restructure of midfield thats for sure, but january/july i just don't see who we are gonna get!

i would love to see ballack and graveson two workers! we also need another Veron/Beckham type player that can deliver killer ball into ruud, rooney, which added to ronaldos pace and ability to get into box with stepovers we will have more options for supporting attackers.

looking around maybe obi will become a provider i ve heard hes more attacking midfield than defensive.

has anyone heard the rumours or freddy adu for £4m in January???

sherer 04-11-2005 11:19

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season

i've heard about Feddie Adu but I don't think we can sign him yet under FIFA law.. he is only 17 and don't think he can leave his region until he's 18

the player i'd like to see if Mescharano from Argentina.. seen some clips of him and he's just like Roy Keane.. play him with Ballack and we'd be laughing.. not a real fan of Graverson but looking at what we got at the moment he can't do much worse

the problem is we never replaced Beckham.. Ronaldo isn't really a winger and still hasn't learnt that in England you need to stay on your feet more.. doing 15 step overs is great but unless there is an end product and a killer cross and pass into the box it's a waste of time.. too often with Ronaldo after the step over the ball has gone or when it does come it's rubbish

oh i agree i believe i could shoot or cross better than ronaldo!!! he is rubbish at it, but surely with time he will learn. Graveson was excellent in premiership' he was real worker. and thats what we need in midfield.

Warning to any other clubs who feel like copying Arsenal or Chelsea - not a good idea to bring an unbeaten run to Old Trafford :D

You should put up a sign along the lines of 'We can't win the league any more, but we can end any unbeaten runs you might be carrying'. Double thanks are due, I forgot that you also preserved our Invicibles season record until at least May 2007. Nice work Scottish flukey goal fella!

Now where's my compilation video of van Nistlerooy diving? Bit big to post, I'm afraid. Still, I'm sure there are some bitter Ipswich fans who still remember him getting them relegated the other year who could sort you out with footage.

Quite, but some are more angelic than others. Man United were 14th out of 20 last season in the FPL, just ahead of Birmingham (top three were Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, in fact). Indeed (since the best teams usually end up near the top) you can trace the fortunes up at OT by the decline in placing in that table.

While I dislike Mourinho intensely and hope (in vain, sadly) that he's feeling like a prat on the plane back down tonight, his teams do play pretty much in the right spirit. Perhaps if the 'Special One' had spent the week supervising training rather than mouthing off about Wenger in the media he might have actually won a game or two. Schadenfreude, I think it's called. How's the stutter going, Jose?

*Joke. If he's reading. Wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of Mad Jens, really, look what he did to Oliver Kahn's face.

But the FA's Fair play league doesn't show who is the cleanest team on the pitch. Norwich finished last season with the least yellow/red cards. Does this not mean they are the cleanest team?

The fair play league gives points for other stuff, like 10 points per match on the behaviour of fans.

As utd fan, we shouldnt get our hopes up about yesterday, great result for us as was against Arsenal last year, but don't forget same team went on last year to loose following week to portsmouth!

we have tricky away game after the break to Charlton and we will need to play exact same way again, and again and again til seasons end. also lets not get carried away smith, rio, o'shea and fletcher were fantastic but i still believe that we could and should buy in a better midfielders. one game doesn't change a player overnight.

sherer 07-11-2005 11:04

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season

well going on about the diving thing which is something very close to my heart and something i absolutely hate.. i'll say this about United we do have players that dive.. Ronaldo and Ruud spring to mind as the main culprits but most of our team have prob done it at some poit this year.. i won't name anyone from any other teams as it's pointless.. the fact is it goes on about twenty times in every match.. just look at the times when a hand goes near someones face and they end up rolling on the ground.. i'll tell you when i last saw my g/f she touched my face and I didn't have the same reaction

the fair play league is a joke as you get points for fans behavour and other stuff.. if the fans were signing anti- chelsea songs we loose points if they clap when chelsea do well we get points.. the fpl should be scraped due to the fact that each team cheats and dives in every match.. if FIFA had a proper fair play league that rewarded honest decisions without diving it would be ok.. any team that has players going up to the ref waving a card saying are you going to book the player from the other team should be suspended from it..

i know i said I wouldn't name anyone for diving but go back to the pen with Boro v Man U.. i don't want to argue about whether it should have been given or not but the player had his shirt pulled.. when he went down he had a face in pain and was goign "arrrrggghhhh" like they all do.. over his shirt being pulled

going back to the game during the firat half we played well but since when has a United team come out for a second half at 1-0 up and said we will sit back and defend a slim lead.. that's not the way we play and not United .. i blame Quieroz for that.. we were lucky Chelsea weren't in top form as the amiont of ball they had they should have punished us in the second half.. o'Shea was awful for the whole match and every touch ,,, pass and cross was rubbish... he shouldn't be in the team at the moment.. Smith put in his usual 150 % but where was that against Boro ? during the second half with only Ruud playing up front why was VDS kicking long balls up to him from goal kicks ? the defenders were going to win each of those balls and just play the ball back .. then after that we had a new formation of 4-6 !!!

as Man U did against Arsenal we didn't build on the result and ATM i'm not too confident on us building on this one either

were do utd go from here then, a win away to charlton! . . united needs to do a run like Arsenal and Chelsea have achieved.

tight in defence and scoring freely up front. christmas and new year we should pull out all stops to get players we want. glazers and chelseas money is no excuse, if we had of offered 24m for essien?? we would have got him. We still hold transfer records for foreign player, british player and teenage in rio/rooney and veron so i hate hearin this excuse we cant match chelsea in transfer market.

Finally some sense from a man u fan, your fix is on the training pitch and tactics not buying your way out of trouble. If you can beat chelsea then lose next week that is down to been bad on the day not what players you got.

Wigan are second, have they got more resources then liverpool, man u tottenham etc.

at the moment I can't see us going on a run.. the performance against Chelsea could have been better.. Rio still made mistakes and every touch from O'Shea was poor.. we still lacked width up front as well with no real winger on the pitch.. can see alot of the team going into comfort mode again as we beat chelsea and the performance will drop next match.. too much talk from the man u camp and not enough performances at the moment

still would like to be proved wrong as we still need a few other teams to beat or draw with chelsea to get back into the title race

Ruud to sue Vieira?

Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is considering legal action against Patrick Vieira after the Frenchman called him "a cheat", "a coward" and a "son of a b***h".

The former Arsenal midfielder laid into Van Nistelrooy in his autobiography, serialised in the News of the World, and now reports suggest that the Dutchman will sue.

They could. They went 45 games unbeaten IN ALL competitions during 1998 and 1999. At the minute with injuries etc we are just not good enough.

Footballer gets papal blessing

An Italian footballer has become a hero on and off the pitch for asking his team to pay him only the minimum wage.

While some of his team-mates at Roma football club earn millions, Damiano Tommasi has requested a salary of â‚ ¬1,500 (£1,013 ) a month. After being out of the game for months with a knee injury, the 31-year-old player said he simply wanted to return to playing football at the highest level and economic considerations were low on his list of priorities. A modest salary was enough for his needs, he said, and he was still earning more than many ordinary Italians.

His gesture has led to him being lionised in football-mad Italy, with even the Vatican's official mouthpiece L'Osservatore Romano congratulating him for not pursuing an exorbitant salary or re-signing fee, like other players.

Rio: 'Keane never mentioned money'

Rio Ferdinand claims he has seen Roy Keane's famous MUTV interview and he never mentions his £120,00 0-a-week wages.

...Ferdinand has told The Sun: "I respect Roy as the team captain. He obviously spoke and said what he felt but what he said about me is nothing that I didn't think about myself and more. I'm my own fiercest critic.

And for the record, I've seen the interview and nowhere does Roy ever mention what I earn or refer to my contract.

"He talked about my position for the two goals and he was right. But some of the stuff it is claimed he said is absolute rubbish."

They balanced it very well the previous week, the No. 1 goal was from Giggs with the usual assist from your Captain at the time.

Next week it is "Pick your top 3 Arsenal dives" from our selection of 50.
With so many to chose from it is going to be tough to pick the top 3 methinks. :p:

I spot a certain amount of irony in this, considering that the first of Russ's 'pretty good' goals was a dubious penalty following a dive by the spud-faced wunderkind. If that's 'pretty good' you really are getting starved of decent football, or you enjoy watching cheats when they wear Manchester United shirts. Time to start watching Arsenal and England, Russ.

3-2 to the England - smash and grab at the end. What a difference a decent defensive midfielder makes, eh?

Yeah the ad is pretty good, he does loads of tricks but the hits the ball from the 18 yard line off the bar and right back to him 3 or 4 times, thats all done by computers.
