Works both ways. If he wants to move clubs it means the club he's moving to doesn't have to pay compensation to get him out of the contract.

Yeah, but didn't Barcelona do pretty much the same thing with Beckham? In fact, I seem to remember that Laporta actually staked his bid for the presidency on the fact that Beckham was definitely going.

You do tend to find that the Spanish clubs in particular make these huge statements and probably 80% of them don't come off. Mind you, he'll probably sign for them now, and make me look like a pillock (not for the first time, obviously :disturbd: )
