Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Not a happy post per se…

As some will know my son is half English and for his recent birthday I bought him a stadium tour of Wembley (already taken him around Anfailed as well as Old Trafford - my attempts at conversion therapy had so far failed) and we’re going this Saturday.

So I’ll be picking him up from Leicester then driving to the stadium for the tour which is about 2 hours. I’ll be bored out of my mind but yes he’s half English so he’ll have a good time which is the only reason I’ll be happy.

Afterwards we’ll be staying at a hotel in Luton for the night and driving back to the East Midlands Sunday midday, going to a funfair at his local park then at 5 I’ll be making my way back to Cardiff in the lovely Sunday evening traffic.

So as long as he’ll be happy, and I know he’ll love it, that’s this weekend sorted.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Nice but I'd make time to just be with each other. Why is it that these days you have to go all out to please. I'm sure he'd be happy with whatever you do as long as it's with you.

Russ 31-08-2023 13:53

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Huh? I do make time to just be with him but considering he lives in your area and I only get to see him one weekend per month I like to make our time as special as possible. None of his family is in to football so I like to take him places he would enjoy going to but wouldn’t normally have the opportunity.

5 1/2lb off this week hit my 4 1/2 stone plus a bit. Might hit 5 stone loss next week. All that in just 12 weeks. Happy days

Well done Jay colossal loss in such a short time.

I am not happy that today was the last time our local Wilko traded. However I made a special visit to the store as I plan to have our bedroom and hallway decorated later in the year. I bought 4 rolls wallpaper normally £19 and 3 rolls normally £14 oral tooth brush normally £16 and 6 solar lights £1.50 each. Wallpaper was reduced to £5.50 each roll, toothbrush £11.20, and solar lights 90p each. Just as I arrived at the check out the manager informed the check out lady the wallpaper had been reduced to 50p per roll. Total £20.10, saving £122.90. Bargain of the day? You bet :hyper:

Had an appointment today with my Doctor, I was able to discuss 3 problems that have been worrying me for some time. I wore a jacket I had not worn for some time, fiddling about in the pockets, I found £34, and later won £25 on the club bandit, altogether a very good day. :):):)

I am going to be a trustee for a charity I'm involved with, we just need the AGM so I and two other can be voted in.

I am doing all the admin and currently writing some procedures, and putting together an Induction pack for new members, and a form that requires member to get signed when that use new tool, regardless if they did that in a previous career.

It was probably due to the adjuvant.

Adjuvanted Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine▾ (aQIV). This has 2 influenza A inactive viruses, two influenza B inactive viruses and an adjuvant

Sounds like you're doing really well so far. Whatever you're doing seems to be working for you. Hope you manage to get where you want to be.

I'm the opposite, for me it's a constant battle to put weight on. A lot of the time it's a case of the more I eat the more weight I tend to lose. There's a lot of info on how to lose weight but for me I'm just told to eat anything fattening or fortify the food I eat with as much crap as I like. Not exactly healthy. It might sound great for some but really it ain't.

The most I've ever weighed was 11st, the least was 7st (and I'm 5ft 10in). I can tell you at that weight it's really not fun at all.

Jay you have accomplished what for most people in your situation find almost impossible. The effort it must have taken to cut out all your comfort food is commendable. You have done it before, you can do it again. Just keep thinking how good you felt the first time when you lost loads, and this time resolve to keep the weight off for good, as you know it is life changing. I'm in your corner, keep up the good work. :nworthy:

Took the Mondeo Titanium X Sport for an EGR and DPF delete as well as a stage 2 ECU remap the other week and I could feel one hell of a difference but took it on a rolling road today and I’ve gone from 175bhp to 235bhp.

The 2.2 has a 6 speed gearbox so I don’t have to worry about the clutch burning out as often happens with too-high ECU remaps, so well happy with that :)

Received an email from the NHS PATCHES system asking me to book a blood test (for my repeat (low dosage) Statins prescription) - whilst I was on the phone, I also booked a Pneumococcal vaccine* appointment.

* What the pneumococcal vaccine is for

The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against some types of bacterial infections that can cause serious illnesses like:

meningitis (an infection in the brain and spinal cord)
sepsis (a life-threatening reaction to an infection)
pneumonia (an infection in the lungs)

It can also help protect against other illnesses such as sinusitis and ear infections.

Well done Tinks, should buy you a couple of bottles of Vimto. :) I should have had a go, I am certainly feeling lucky. This last week has seen a turn for the better in my families lives.

According to my medical team I seem to be on my way back into remission.

Our son has had a year long battle going on with the Inland Revenue following his divorce but had a letter this week confirming ... in writting.... that he doesn't owe any money and they have actually appologised.

Then we got word that my husband's replacement hip operation could be done early next year, then yesterday, we got another phone call offering him the operation on 20 December instead as his Cosultant has managed to fit him into her list early, of course he accepted, fingers crossed he will be home by Christmas.

Just seeing our son smile and knowing that my husband will be out of pain and be able walk soon makes me happy.

Oh and SUFC won 2-1 but that's a completely different happy thought. :D

Oh and SUFC won 2-1 but that's a completely different happy thought. :D

A hip replacement is a 3 to 5 day stay in hospital so I'm hoping for him to be out before Christmas.

So much good news Jo, no wonder you're feeling lucky :tu:

Had my first Roast Dinner in 6 months today. Half a Chicken Roast potatoes Stuffing Veg and Gravy. Even calorie counted hahaha so even with my lunch and an apple to take my antibiotics with I still have a 750 calorie deficit

My treat meal instead of a takeaway. Hit 7 1/2 stone loss today. Might even hit 8 next week.

Had a great day yesterday, spent the evening in the company of Carlton Cole, James Collins and Tony Cottee, plus the food was great too, what a great guy Carlton in particular is.

I'm sure having your replacement bionic bits installed will have you chasing steam trains before Christmas.:D

I'll be thinking of you Den with my fingers firmly crossed for a fast recovery.
