Is that easy to do buddy how can this happen for me?

You'll need a usa friend/family for a start.
If enough show interest i'll post a simple get started guide in the netflix/streaming thread but it will be upto you to get your own US tv login.

VM should pull there finger out, and give us the channels we deserve. And the price that we are paying. We should have more

On what basis do you think that, dodo?

Sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Yes it wshful think on my mind
With the relaunched of5Star +1 andPOP
And new channels like Spike,Tru TV,Movies 4 Men,Movie Mix.
what do you think about plus 1 channels

I think broadcasting companies like Sky,Sony,Vicaom ,Etc.should include the Plus one as a bonus channel if you get the main channel.example We get Sky 1 but not Sky 1 + 1 for no charge

Add that lot, & all the V+HD boxes will end up with a 3 day EPG instead of 5. No way will VM add that amount of channels until all the legacy boxes (of which there are still around 1/2 million out there) are replaced.

All I want is a better on demand/catch up service! One that has all programs in hd and adds programs within hours of the live channel broadcast. At the moment there's little hd and you often have to wait days and sometimes weeks before programs are added.

Thanks for the warning.

Apparently, they are waiving the 30 day notice period if downgrading is due to the price rise. I wonder if this also applies to contract renewal?

Confirmation now received that H2 is definitely not closing in the UK to make way for Viceland (as was the case in the USA).

Indeed and thus it won't happen and besides, with 4K (including HDR) channels set to hit the mainstream next year, VM need to have a careful think about where they see their platform heading and what they want to put on it.

I think it would be fair, certainly for new channels, that only HD channels were added from here on. Then consider about what to do about existing and missing channels, ie on my list, VM has a sd version of Boomerang but missing the HD version.

I think VM should consider replacing the more obscure SD channels with their HD versions, while keeping all versions of the main BBC, ITV, Sky etc channels on the platform for those that still don't have HD tellies.

But at some point VM need to stop "sweating their assets" and replace all old boxes.

Of course for those that have read the Netflix/streaming thread, you may already know my thoughts on where pay tv (and all its multitude of channels) are going in the next few years...

Malone is well known for "sweating his assets", I think he may well have used that actual term in the past!

Some of those are pretty obscure to be honest, some such as BET +1 and MTV Live (SD) are no longer operating. If VM added all of the rest as broadcast streams, they'd need more transport streams and that would mean more investment, largely for dross.

I would think that quite a few of those e.g. the music channels, CCTV News and the Kremlin's misinformation channel could be added as IPTV streams and accessed from a TiVo app. Having to wait an eternity for TiVo to load the apps would certainly show whether any viewers were actually interested in the content.

This is why I was so surprised to read that the hayu app had been such a success.

I would imagine that young people will have even less patience than older people with the speed of the TiVo app loading.

They are used to commands being carried out instantly; at least older people remember the days of having to wait for the telly to warm up :D
