The only conclusion you can get from that is they did not do the upgrades as said and are hoping no one notices while manually upgrading those that did. Exactly the underhand stuff that rightly gives customers a bad impression of how virgin will try and con them at every chance they get.

it become evident now that it takes VM a week or so longer to get all remaining customers in x area onto new speeds after Bolt says x area is done.

The sad state of affairs is anything VM announce says has no credibility.

Whether its from PR, tech support or the CEO office. Quite often in the past I have had tech support tell me information that doesnt match up to what the CEO office state.

If VM say an area is getting an upgrade it means very little, to them shuffling users around can count as an upgrade. I take it all with a pinch of salt unless I see a sudden sustained improvement after an outage.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

The Croydon users who have called up to get the speed doubled have found their connection is less reliable and stable than before. As well as some faster speeds they are also finding its going slower than it ever has for them in the past too.

Unless they upgrade that area quicker, I think it might actually fall over lol. Google some fault numbers for the Croydon area, nearly all of them get pushed back many months and more are set for april next year now. Google "F001904506" and you will see fix dates given as October, november and a few more but now April 2013. Croydon is broke in a big way and its coming to a crunch soon.

Mine was upgraded from 10 to 30Mbs which came as a surprise to me ( I was expecting 20Mbs)

Since the upgrade I've had break down after break down, one or two / month the worst so far, was for a period of 4 days offline

Croydon will probably be one of the last.

Think I am into year 2 now - not betting that it will not be year 3 before it happens!

Got a feeling virgin missed their dates once again . Seems mandatory that they have to be 6+ months late on every date they give

You need to ring 150 to get the increased speed activated, as I found out this morning, my doubling of speed was only from (10 to 20) and gave me 9 to a dissapointing 14 so far.
But a reboot did nothing until I rang

I have been on 100mb for quite a while after previously phoning customer services and asking for an early upgrade. My area is now complete but I did not automatically get the increase in upload speed to 10mb until I called. Very helpful CS person said they would do it straight away and my config was changed immediately, no reboot required.

Not quite yet - the first announcement was on the 11th January 2012, and the work didn't start until February....;)

Virgin Media will double the speed of its broadband service for more than four million of its customers, the company has said.

The upgrade, which begins in February, will also see the service's top speed increase from 100Mbps to 120Mbps.

The full rollout is expected to be complete by mid-2013 at a cost to the company of £110m.

Customer Services agents shouldn't really be doing that

The upload increase happen at different times to the download increases. Going from XXL 50 to XXL 100 on the downstream does not mean your upload goes from 5Mbit to 10Mbit

XXL 100 customers won't get a 10:1 upload until they get the further increase to 120Mbit at which point they'll get a 12Mbit upload
