Well done Tinky.:)

In our surgery group patients have to go through the kafkaesque econsult system which for those who struggle with online forms which includes many OAPs and some other groups is pretty hard.

And even after that it is a lottery as to how long before someone replies.

We have an online facility down here, where you can tick a list of ailments, and complete a questionaire. I received a phone call from the doctor next day. However another time the receptionist said she would get the doctor to phone, it was 10 days later when I got the call.

Went to the O2 Leeds last night to see The Damned - not my usual fare, but a friend had a couple of spare tickets, so thought "what the hell"…

The supporting act (The Nightingales) weren’t my cup of tea (post-punk thrash shouty alt-rock), but I enjoyed the first hour of The Damned set (stuff from the 80s, 90s, & 21st century), then it got a bit too punky for me for the last half hour (their mid-late 70s punk era), but all in all, it was a mostly enjoyable experience- never too old to try something different.

Captain Sensible was a bit cheeky at the end of the gig - he got one of the roadies to bring him a change of tops, and he put on a Crystal Palace football shirt to wave goodbye to the audience…

Finally got round to destroying a couple of hardrives from old pcs. Turns out they are hard to destroy. Used a sledgehammer in the end, very satisfying.

Electric drill does a good job as well.

I keep old drives, and re-use them as data/photo backups, using a USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter Cable to connect them to the PC, then keep them at our daughter’s house.

Sounds a good night out, quite a bit of Damned stuff in my various playlists, and have been a fan of The Nightingales since first hearing them on the Cherry Red records Pillows and Prayers compilation album in the early 80's (I was lucky enough to pick up a picture disc version which did cost more than the 99p they charged for the normal vinyl).

It was fun, and a bit different - it’s important (imho) as one gets older not to get stuck in a rut, and try new things (saying that, we went to Fuji Hiro in the Merrion Centre for gyoza and noodles before the gig - we’ve been going there since it opened in 1997…).

Just been (with SWMBO) to the Leeds Grand Theatre to see Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of)

Very funny, good songs, and a very talented - would recommend it anyone who wants/needs cheering up, or just fancies a good night out; the cast got a standing ovation at the end that went on for a couple of minutes.

My nieces girlfriend had her passout parade for Heartfordshire police, she finished top of her class.

Now she's based in a station near her home and I guess the real fun starts when she does the on job training, the instructor recommended that female recruits get taser trained, which she will.

On Wednesday 17th May she did her first shift, she was ask by her instructor is their any thing she is nervous about, she replied "Sudden death", and 30 minutes later her first job was a sudden death, so I guess that all new recruits get their fears done ASAP.

This week she should be using the handcuffs in anger as they carry out arrest warrants.

Somehow managed to save money when renewing the virgin contract this morning….

Eighteen months ago it was £85 + whatever the sim cost per month

Renewed this morning still £85 a month but no sim, and as now Netflix included it cost £5 to move the premium plan over saving £10 a month…

Well after 4 years without a holiday, I've booked a night in a Travelodge in Great Yarmouth.

It is much needed as I've been a full-time carer for my dad and I need this, so my sister will stay overnight and look after my dad.

Then I can enjoy proper cooked chips in Beef Dripping.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

What started as a nightmare sort of end up OK

I went up our town centre with my sister.

I bought a Greggs luch as I had a free sausage roll due, which I paid with my bank card, we sat in the Water Gardens and had lunch and then we popped into a few shops.

I went to get my wallet out of my mini messenger bag and its not there, so panic checked out the other compartments nope. so I paid with my phone and then did a retraceto find it, again without luck.

So I went to my local HSBC and cancelled my debit card and the POA debit card for my dads account, and new cards ordered, i then said about going on holiday next saturday (22nd) and needed cash, she askewd if I had any ID, I said yes in my wallet which is lost, but she was able to give me £200.

I did the same in Santander my mine and dad's POA card, again he asked did I have any ID, but cards cancelled and ordered.

Both should be here next week.

I popped into Barclays about my credit card and they said that I need to call them, she also said have I tried the Management Suite for the Water Gardens, so along I popped, and just as Im standing outside I get a phone call from the MS and after telling them what card where in there in the order they gave me my wallet back, minus the £70 that was in there.

But At least my paper driving licence was still in there which to me is more important the the £70.

Now to wait for the new cards and add 2 of them to my phones and watches wallet .

Had yet another phone call from the surgery to say it was he district Matron coming instead of doctor, I felt really honoured. Shortly later 2 young Matrons arrived, asked me a load of questions, said it was possibly essential tremmors, but they would get a consultant to look into it. The 13th has always been lucky for me, got divorced after 13 years on 13th May 1976. Has this lifted my spirits? You bet. :D :):):):):):):):)

Glads is going well

The 13th is very lucky for me, I was born on Friday 13th, and the stuff babies are covered in was down my throat and I couldn't breathe, but a nurse sucked it out, also my grandad survived 2 torpeded ships on Friday 13th, one was in shark infested water, which claimbed many of his friends.

I have had my ring resized twice since 1976, I gained a lot of weight, then lost it again, hence the reason it it too big now tweetiepooh. Thanks for the suggestion.

I called up Amazon about a refund on an item, got a very helpful person that tried to sort out a problem.

I didn't expect the email I got afterwards, but it did make me smile.

Our VM V6 died (hard disk failure) Monday evening, tech came out this afternoon and replaced like for like, and waited until all the software had downloaded (it takes longer for the V6 s/w to download than the 360, apparently), then checked it was all hunky-dory before he left.

Good service from VM.

Thank you Grim Den and Jo. Two things surprised me today, one apparently I have had these tremmors since 2016 and two Mr T being sick in the consulting room, luckily he managed to reach the sink in time. the Doctor is arranging something for me but don't ask what as I could not understand what she said. So I won't hold my breath.

I thought I had an appointment on Thursday with the nurse to change the dressing on my foot, but she phoned just now to say it would earlier at 12.30, so I looked it up just to check I had the new date correct. But it's for a smear test, what the heck! I'm 80 years old.:erm::confused::rolleyes:

Ebay has had a change of heart, after my rant with their rep and threatening a extremely negative response for the seller, they have agreed a full refund and I don't have to return the useless typewriter either.

Ebay has had a chnge of heart after my rant to their rep on the net, and posting a really rotten reputatio. Won;t hold my breath till the refund arrives in my account.

Considering how long they took they should have at least given you a discount. Hope you have taken this up with your insurers. At least you are fully mobile again, xx

The CFers on my Facebook will know I have a preference for going to the gym at stupid o’clock (usually around 4.30am) as other than my OH and her kids, some members of my family and a small smattering of friends I generally don’t like humans very much and especially don’t like humans in the gym whilst I’m there, so to make things easier I try to go when people generally won’t be there. But despite my best efforts even at that there can be 3 or 4 stragglers..

But this morning I reached peak utopia - not a single other living breathing humanoid was there for my full hour and 20 minute workout.

I cannot put in to words how much of a serene and blissful mood I’ve started the say with today.

Don’t worry, my usual level of grumpiness will return soon enough but for now, Russ has been smiling lots.

Your smiley, early morning, face makes me laugh. Always have to look closely as it's hard to see whether you really are happy. It's the eyes that give you away :) Heaven help anyone who dares to leave any weights lying around and has to deal with Mr Grump. :D

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend smiley man.

I only smile at the gym when either there’s nobody there or if Ally specifically asks me to send her a smiling pic. Other than that I’m happy (!) to look my usual grumpy self there.

I hate getting out of bed at 5am when I'm on early shift it kills me as I hate going to bed super early and often still need a nap in the afternoon, you must go to bed at 7pm to get up at that time lol or maybe your adrenaline helps you stay awake?
