Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

I'm one of those people who likes to record an entire series of shows and watch them back to back once the series is complete. This, I thought, is what TiVo should excel at. However, the lack of a dynamic EPG means that my viewing in this way is sometimes sabotaged by overrunning or rescheduled programmes and there's no hope of going back to re-record the episode that TiVo has missed after weeks have elapsed. Very annoying.

If the lack of a dynamic EPG means that TiVo is incapable of moving the recording to match what is actually happening would it not be possible for the box to somehow be told that a show is likely to have been missed due to an overrun and to record it at the next available opportunity? For such a supposedly smart box of tricks it seems stupid sometimes.

True, but I suggest that a dynamic EPG would be appreciated more than reminders.

Rumour: Media Boy HQ given new Sky prices info.

Base on info I have seen Sky price rises are set to go up as following (Virgin Media prices not confirmed yet only seen price list for Sky viewers)

-Movies +£0.50
-Sports +£2.50
-Movies and Sports +£3.00

I have been told that the rest of the Sky Prices will be reveal on July 1st.

The impression I got from Spiderplant based on his "wait until after 7pm" advice was that the four epg updates are scheduled?

I gave that time as I knew 100% of TiVos should have picked up that update by 7pm. I'm interesting in finding out why oliver's didn't. Maybe his local BBC1 variant got missed, or his TiVo is having a problem calling back.

That unfortunately was bad advice as peoples' four updates each day are at different times.

The callbacks are deliberately staggered to spread the load on the servers, but every Tivo should have picked up that update by 7pm. Both of mine had it when I checked at around 4pm.

Any rumours of a TiVo update? The damn thing is so slow!

Is it possible to arrange more updates during things like World Cups which are always going to have over runs?

For what it is worth, whilst speaking to retentions yesterday, woman seemed pretty definite that Sports channels would be launching on Thursday July 17th, and she said that as far as she knows SSN and SN would be launching in HD by Christmas (no mention of a year though!). Asked about Atlantic as we were waiting for a screen to load, she reckons that it will launch before the end of 2015. How much is true, I have no idea. Thursday seems a good bet for launch though.

Maybe - Maybe not.

That date is within July 14th to July 19th.
