I would have thought that they already have some in the pipeline, to launch when TIVO is fully rolled out to new customers or just before ( or is that just me been hopeful ):erm:

Actually Tivo never had a dynamic epg. The box called in once a day to download and unpack new data which would take 30 mins or so, any schedule changes wouldn't be picked up until that call. It often missed shows if tv was running late. The only time it changed a scheduled recording was if there was a clash and it found a repeat at another time.

That's a bit lame but hopefully this newer model is better though. I know it's got a great deal going for it but being the self proclaimed most advanced DVR ever built you would think it would be incorporated.

Guys on DS are reporting install dates this week so all will become clearer very soon!

My install is next saturday. I would imagine by now epg data can be pushed to the box at anytime. As far as DVRs go, my 10 yr old model is more advanced than anything todxy, if you ignore a dynamic epg. It's a true PVR.

Re: TiVo

From reading peoples first impressions, it sounds like the box still calls home to update its EPG (and you can go into a menu and make it do this manually too). So I doubt there would be a pushed EPG.

One of the more interesting things is the mentions of connecting to the box via a network and being able to watch recordings that way. Hopefully it isn't crammed full of DRM (Digital Rights Management) and is actually usable.

I very much doubt you'll ever be able to stream recordings to anything other than another Tivo.

Yes they will be able to do it as they have been able to sign the three screen deal with a few companies ( tv, mobile and online )

Got my TiVo install coming up on Wednesday. I have 1 V+ and 2 V boxes. Can I swap the V+ with a V and then hand the V box back when the TiVo is installed?

Just for you series 1 guys :D

The start up video, I think it's gone to TiVo heaven with the TiVo button which has been replaced by 'Home' :(

Here's the old Series 1 demo vid. You all could of had this 10 years ago...

10 years ago was different. For most of us, VCRs were all that was needed especially with analogue TV. TiVo was expensive and unnecessary to most.

Now with easier DVRs that don't require any extra boxes or cables or RF leads you have to buy with extra £10 monthly charges, and everyone sitting firmly on the digital age, it's the right time for TiVo to return, especially as a combined DVR.

You can't compare the pricing of the latest 1Tb box with one of the older Sky boxes either that are "free" either. My guess is that in a year or so VM will be offering a cut down tivo box free or nearly free as well. They will have to if they are going to move their whole platform over to tivo. p\robably smaller hard drive and less tivo features I would guess.

Probably better for me to remain with "The Devil" for another contract - if I live that long, 79 & counting;). VM/Tivo will surely have improved...

I wish I had "stayed with the devil". I canceled sky to come to VM for tivo only to find out I get A LOT!!!!!!! less HD channels a price increase in April and tivo will cost upto £189+£40 install+£3 a month.

YES THATS RIGHT KIDS A WHOLE LOT MORE MONEY FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS CONTENT.

ANYWAY............I sacked the idea of getting tivo and went back to skyHD.Now I just need to keep VM for 6 months as after that the disconnection fees are greatly reduced.R

But I didnt realise how much I missed SKY-ARTS in HD. It really is one of the channels that bennefits from HD THE MOST.

Ooh and it also seems VM see fit to give some of there customer FREE TIVO BOXES AND FREE LIFE TIVO SUBS.......It seems the price of tivo for you and me subsidies 1000's of users getting it free. Now that is something I'm not willing to be part off.

Re: TiVo

Yes, loss of channels now. A vague promise for later will not, think sell VM to Sky subbers.
