Re: TiVo

I had SkyHD for a few years and can honestly say I preferred the original SkyHD epg even though it wasnt HD plus the Sky box only has two tuners and a smaller hard drive than TiVo.

Like I said before I'm not anti Tivo I just wish I had stayed with Sky. I'm getting bitter lol.

In fairness I don't think you understand tivo or not the VM tivo. You said "No Tivo's main selling point is the dynamic never miss a recording epg". The VM tivo software and epg is no different to any other tivo software, that apparently you signed up for. Like I said you should wait until you have a chance to read real life reports of tivo. The initial reports are encouraging and the epg is much superior to existing V+ boxes.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about then. Reading the reports from S1 tivo owners on a tivo forum , who now have VM tivo, they appear to be perfectly happy with it. As far as i can see it has everything the S1 owners loved about tivo. It's an improvement over the S1 with nothing missing from what I have read. In addition it has (or will have) three tuners, networking, and apps.
The thing that surprises me is that some are actually saying it is faster than the S1. That surprises me.

Well thats something for me to look forward to then when Tivo is eventually rolled out to all customers.

Its too late for me now lol..I got a sky reconnected. Turns out if I just used my old sky+HD box I got a really good offer. Or I could of had a new install with new box but not got a deal.

Right now my Mrs is watching The Dog Whisperer Uk in HD. She will take that over a EPG. More importantly they will all stop moaning at me for turning sky off lol.

Isn't that on Nat Geo?

I just pay the bills, I have no say over the remote. An as I have an 18 month contract VM wont let me out of looks like I get the best of both worlds. An maybe within that 18 months I get a free tivo on a normal VHD box. Although the VM guy did say it will be a lot cheaper to get out of my vm contract after 6 months

An were watching NatGeo wild HD

The Dog Whisperer UK is showing right now in HD on Nat Geo Wild HD which of course isn't available on VM, I think that's what he meant.

Actually Tivo never had a dynamic epg. The box called in once a day to download and unpack new data which would take 30 mins or so, any schedule changes wouldn't be picked up until that call. It often missed shows if tv was running late. The only time it changed a scheduled recording was if there was a clash and it found a repeat at another time.
