Thank you for that Den, he is plastered from feet upwards, the break is above the knee where he had a plastic knee replacement 8 years ago, wonder if that weakened his leg. :(

We were £120 in credit. That's why hosepipe bans are annoying to us. We use lower volumes of water and the supply companies leak huge amounts but we bear the burden. I feel for those with ponds and fish, I really think ban should apply to golf courses too though.

Just got back from a nice day trip to Burton upon Stather to help celebrate my brother and sister-in-law’s 55th Wedding Anniversary - weather kept dry, only 80 minutes drive each way, and it was great to see my nephews and niece’s families as well, as they live quite a distance away (Newmarket, Warrington, & Godalming).
I was up in Glasgow last weekend to celebrate my sister’s 70th Birthday, so saw the Glasgow branch of the family then. |

Had friends round for dinner, planning next year’s road trip.
After much discussion (and fizz and red wine), narrowed down to May 2023 and either San Francisco/Hawaii or Washington DC/East Coast (Virginia/North Carolina/South Carolina). Investigate tomorrow when less fuzzy… :D |

Car insurance renewal has just come through. Usually have to ring up and haggle to get the same(ish) price as last year.
It was £350 last year, now its £190, exactly the same cover. Either the AA have cocked up or I'm now seen as extremely boring ! Will renew quick or should I still haggle ? :D |

But insurance premiums are mysterious things. Mrs P and I both reduced our premiums by adding each other as named drivers to our policies. How does that work? |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
My home contents with Tesco went down from over £6 to £4.50. New insurance rules seem to had benefited. I expected prices to rise due to no longer offing online deals but it appears renewals and standard quotes have matched the old online deal criteria. Bonus
|
Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
We use Saga insurance and both our Car and Home policies were reduced. Not as much as Taff's 😥.
I did check with other insurance comparison sites but across the board they gave higher quotes so no incentive to move.. |

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
I have 1 final payment of my 25 year mortgage left, so this time next month it'll all be paid off!
Unfortunately I won't really see any financial benefit as the mortgage was small(was all I could afford 25 years ago) so it's now all being eaten up from cost of living increases from Gas, Electricity and Food, but it's a nice feeling when I hit retirement in around 12 years I won't have to pay to keep a roof over my head other than the normal bills. |

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Well on Wednesday 26th October I was sitting in my chair having the first cuppa of the day, and watching a programme, before I start 2 1/2 days of getting the house ready for my dad's possible discharge from hospital after 14 weeks on Friday.
My phone rings, and I'm told that he's coming home today, "TODAY" I say, so panic. I alert my sister and rush out to get fresh stuff, then do the final tidy in his room, get the hospital bed ready. So at 4:30 he finally comes home and has temporary carers to help him/me adjust 4 times a day, but will be slow;y reduced. He's currently confined to upstairs until we get a stairlift installed in the coming weeks. |
Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Quote:
The stairlift will be a good addition and help him feel far less isolated. Try giving the suppliers a quick call, my friend also came home early after a long stay in hospital and her suppliers were able to fit her stairlift far earlier than was previously thought. Hope everything goes well, I think you are all due some happy times. xx |

TopCashBack.co.uk
Do all your online shopping through it. Sometimes the cashback is only 1% (especially on eBay, annoyingly enough) and can take a month or so to come through but if you start from the new year then by Christmas it can all add up to a tidy sum. I’ve just pulled £70 out of mine although a big chunk of that was the car I bought on eBay. ---------- Post added at 11:48 ---------- Previous post was at 11:46 ---------- Oh and make sure you still me down as your referrer please - I get £10 when you reach £25 :D |

My nephew told us that sometime he and his manager will be going to the parent company to set up the database he helped build and setup, the parent company is in Richmond, Virginia, USA.
He also said that his November wages had a £500 bonus, and another one will come in January, and that he has got a £1,500 outside the normal windows. His manage said he should be on £30,000 PA, not bad for a 19 year old. |
