Hmmm, maybe this is an indication that ITVBe is testing on VM?? Perhaps ITVBe will eventually take over the former local channel EPG slot for Belfast, what was it on before 159 (so we can keep an eye on it).

My guess is that the extra stream that MB noticed is one of the following:

- The BBC2 audio stream needs to be in place for 3 October.

- The ITVBe stream needs to be in place for 8 October.

- The 5*+1 stream, as yet, has an unknown start date.

I haven't included truTV, as this won't affect the total amount of services (since it is already broadcasting off the EPG).

I must admit, I have seen what Sky are bringing out on their Atlantic channel with their adverts, then I read "what's coming soon" to Virgin on this forum, there really is no comparison, it's frigging ridiculous that we cannot get Atlantic, and no matter what some ppl seem to say about Atlantic being rubbish etc etc, from my point of view and probably many others on here it offers some quality programmes.

Some people said that they wanted SA so badly that they would be prepared to pay a little extra on top of their subscription for it.

In a way this is what some have done by subscribing to Now TV on top of their VM subscription in order to get SA, I believe that the other channels on Now TV are included in the basic VM package anyway.

No Disney is on nowtv and is in Vms XL pack, Nikleodeon is in vms L pack, itv encore is on nowtv and not on vm at all at the moment, but i think the others are in vms m+ pack.

Thanks, so some people not on L or XL may benefit a little more if they have children or want ITV Encore before it comes to VM.

Talking of ITV Encore, ITV Encore +1 will be closing on 7/10/14 at 6pm on Sky. It is widely speculated that this slot will be re-used to launch ITVBe on the platform.

At this moment in time, it looks like there won't be a +1 or HD variant for ITVBe on Sky, so I am assuming that this will be the same for VM. It's believed that these are "coming soon" :D

I think you're making the mistake of using a thread in this forum as a complete guide to what's on Virgin. There is some excellent stuff on at the moment.

we live in a rotten world where ofcomn allow the tv providers to run rough shot and charge whatever they want and withhold services. its a disgrace to be honest.

Absolutely agree,

As I always say "no matter how hard you work for your money, there are organization (people) working harder to take it off you!"

Sky and VM are two of them:td:

I think I should change my name to grumpy :Peace:

While I sympathise, you are aware of what you're saying, right?

Outside of the PSB's, no services are legally mandated to be available to everyone. if a Content host or provider wants to keep a channel or programming to themselves, it is their right to do so. If people voted with their wallets, the likes of Sky and VM would not be able to afford to charge "whatever they liked" which in reality, is mere market prices.

BT Sport has been a disrupter, as is Netflix etc and the upcoming WWE Network too. People should be able to pay for the content they want, but that requires Ofcom to tackle the supply side, and encourage the likes of the EPL to create products for consumers to watch content directly. That way people can pay for what they want, and not packages like Sky Sports where much of the content is of no interest.

You cannot blame Sky/VM/BT for wanting to protect what they've paid for, however you can certainly ask why the content producers don't offer consumers direct solutions. The tech is there, they should be using it.

Yes, they have the legal right, but that doesn't make it acceptable. The law should be changed so that one company cannot monopolise all the best shows.

I am surprised that the law is so intrusive these days and yet fails to deal with the issues that really annoy so many people.

It was due to Michael Jackson buying the rights to all that Beatles material that their works have been denied us on TV for all these years. Just one person can achieve this. Clearly wrong.

So long as there is competition in the market, this will not happen. In fact as we have seen competition for the content has driven prices UP not down at the supply side, and the market appetite for the content has not been diminished either. There is not a media monopoly in this country, and so long as there isn't, Ofcom should not interfere with the business of content procurement and distribution.

As for buying the rights to a single act/content source and doing what they want with it, I have to disagree that it is "clearly wrong". You should not, and can not force an owner of any good to share it, sell it, or do anything they don't want with it. You may not like that fact, but such is life.

As consumers the best thing we can do is show the demand for it and make it an offer they cannot refuse. Asking for legislation to control market forces is completely absurd.
