You need to get out of bed at a proper time Vince! All hell broke loose earlier, and the mods have deleted about 500 posts. Sorry, but if we tell you what it was about we'll all be banned .

Cheers

It's wifi, not bluetooth. :erm:

I am getting full speed from VM throughout the house over wifi. 2.4 GHz normally works fine, even if the band is somewhat crowded. With 5 GHz, I appear to have the whole band available to myself with no other users detected.

I have to say that this probably wouldn't be the case using default WLAN driver settings. Most "power saving" options will slow wifi speeds down and are better disabled.

With speeds of upto 1900 Mbps available on the latest 802.11ac routers there's plenty of headroom available for any speed increases likely to be made by VM in the near future.

I don't think I'll be ripping up the floorboards anytime soon. ;)

Roll on dynamic EPG!

Once again, yesterday Casualty was moved so Tivo records a quiz show instead, thinking it is Casualty.

Annoucer says Casualty has been moved to 2110 Sunday. I know Tivo will not record this as it thinks it already has recorded it.

Look on Guide for 2110 Sunday. 'Death in Paradise' is listed from 2100 to 2200! Recorded that and news following in the hope Casualty may be recorded.

No experience of Sky, but if their box is worse than Tivo, it must be dreadful.

That's pretty poor on whoever operates the EPG as BBC said last Sunday that casualty was on Sunday this week too.

Sky seem to manage it

Sky's EPG works in a totally different way. The guide data is broadcast continually, and boxes receive it all the time, so any updates are picked up almost instantly. Whereas TiVo periodically connects to a server to download the guide data. So it only finds out the schedule has changed as and when it connects.

Check your guide after 7pm - Casualty should be there as a new episode.

Yes they originally said Sunday at 9:20 then they changed it to Saturday at 9:00 which is when it would have been shown had the football not overrun.

After the overrun, they cancelled it on the Saturday and rescheduled it to today, Sunday at 9:10.

PS The TiVo guide was updated today and, in fact, the original air date set to today so that TiVo series links worked OK.

It is now 8.34pm and TiVo EPG still says 'Death in Paradise' at 9pm on BBC1. Pathetic for this day and age

That smacks of going back to the days of VHS recorders.

How have Sky, Freview, Freesat etc coped with this well advertised change of time of Casualty?

I have long said about UK cable is that they have never got the basics right in their entire history.

All very well having bells and whistles attached, but if you can't change channels fast enough, or the programme guide is slow loading etc, its pointless. They, at VM towers, just do not GET IT. Basics. That is why Sky is better. It's faster and easier to use, even though tivo is more powerful in the features department.

To adult insult to injury, my V+ has a correct EPG! Casualty at 9.10pm. TiVo is still saying it is Death in Paradise even though Casualty is just starting

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

TiVo updates only 4 times a day.

With others reporting that their EPG has been corrected, you should always initiate a network connection if your own box has not updated on its own.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

So TiVo is just for people who want to constantly mess about with the settings then? My understanding is that this change in schedule was known about well over 24 hours in advance. My TiVo did not update. My 'old fashioned' V+ did update. Fact. I am saying no more.
