Cloud burst way too much in Foret

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Mon

Quote:

Moonlight Cloud came from last to first to record an amazing victory in the Qatar Prix de la Foret at Longchamp.

Last year's winner Gordon Lord Byron was very keen early on and Johnny Murtagh let Tom Hogan's charge stride along in front, while Thierry Jarnet settled Moonlight Cloud in last, and she looked to have an impossible task on her hands as she was still many lengths off the pace heading towards the last of the seven furlongs.

However, the Freddie Head-trained filly turned on the after-burners and caught Gordon Lord Byron in a matter of strides before powering clear and winning eased down by three lengths. Gordon Lord Byron just clung on for second by a short neck from Richard Fahey's Garswood, with Dux Scholar in fourth.

Treve team plan Arc defence.

Criquette Head-Maarek has confirmed her incredible Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Treve will stay in training as a four-year-old to defend her Longchamp crown.

Hugely impressive in the Prix de Diane and the Prix Vermeille, the Motivator filly completed the Group One hat-trick with a truly stunning display against the colts in Europe's premier middle-distance prize.

Cloud team consider Hong Kong run.

Freddie Head has all but ruled out a second trip to the Breeders' Cup for Moonlight Cloud following her scintillating display at Longchamp on Sunday.

The five-year-old clinched her third Group One of the year and sixth overall with an incredible performance in the Prix de la Foret.

Ridden with maximum confidence by Thierry Jarnet, who had earlier won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on the incredible Treve, trained by Head's sister Criquette Head-Maarek, Moonlight Cloud made up rapid headway in the final furlong to swoop from last to first.

Ascot on Byron agenda

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Tue

A tilt at the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot could be next on the agenda for Gordon Lord Byron following his creditable run in defeat at Longchamp on Sunday.

Following a brilliant display in the Sprint Cup at Haydock, Tom Hogan's five-year-old returned to Paris to defend his crown in the Prix de la Foret.

Having cut out much of the running, Gordon Lord Byron saw off most of his rivals after committing for home, but he was unable to resist the late charge of Freddie Head's incredible mare Moonlight Cloud.

Grand National hero Auroras Encore could make his seasonal reappearance in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby next month.

The Sue Smith-trained 11-year-old was a 66-1 winner at Aintree in April, but was unable to repeat that performance in the Scottish equivalent at Ayr a fortnight later.

De Sousa Ready for Dewhurst task

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Wed

Quote:

Jockey Silvestre de Sousa feels Be Ready deserves a shot at Group One glory in Saturday's Dubai Dewhurst Stakes.

With Aidan O'Brien responsible for eight of the 14 remaining entries in the Group One, Coolmore appear to hold all the aces.

However, Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin operation supplemented both Be Ready and Outstrip in an attempt to follow up their win with Dawn Approach 12 months ago.
