Interesting to note when Spurs win it, its the Mickey Mouse cup. When Man U win it, its somehow classed better than the FA cup.

To be fair, had we lost to Wigan, supporters of the ABU club would have made it out to be bigger than the FA cup. :)

yes good wins for Man U and Palace

TBH the Carling Cup isn't a major cup it's like saying we won the Charity Shield it must be a good season

glad we won it but on the face of it it doesn't mean much.. still Chelsea fans went mental of it last season too

good win for Palace too.. hope they keep it up next week as i'm off to the game

It's a shame that this will be the last year for the finals being in Cardiff, as the Millenium Stadium seems to have a good atmosphere.

a cup is a cup I dont like people putting it down, leics won it twice and its a proud achievement as far as I am concerned, if some clubs want to treat it 2nd class that is up to them.

what people make of fact ballack looks to be heading to the bridge. now am a man u fan and yes our club maybe doesnt look as appealin to him as Chelsea does but surely were will he play and how often will he play?? and if this transfer happens were does this leave fergies search for midfield talent.

I was really hoping we'd land Ballack, although at 29 we'd be looking at a replacement in a few years.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season

29 now, you would get end of season I assume so 6 months or so at 29 then in his 30s. Good player but with age factor I wouldnt think worth more then few million at the most. Real Madrid have got ripped of on so many 29 year olds.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season

yeah but he is still in his prime and you would get at least 3 seasons out of him and at no cost on transfer fee

who else of that quality is there
