Plenty of heat on so we can wander about in T-shirts and shorts. Only do this Christmas time as it would be suicidally expensive to do it all the winter.

My cousin in Perth, Austrialia, has a hot Christmas at 45c, to hot to walk to the beach so drove, spent the evening in the pool, a cooler 27c.

Just booked some flights with BA to Larnaca in late September for a week away (we have a friend who has a villa near Çatalköy in North Cyprus).

I used BA Avios points and BA Amex Companion Voucher, so two Economy return flights Heathrow - Larnaca cost a total of £70 (if we booked flights the standard way, it would have cost us £610 in total).

Result!

Back in the 80's my uncle solved it on paper without touching the cube. Some people's brains are just wired that way.

When i was a teenager used to often complete it without a solution, i never really knew how i did it, it just happened randomly after getting the first 2 layers easily completed.

30 years later i can't even figure out how to complete 2 layers easily let alone complete it.

My nephew can do it in around 30 seconds, some 26 seconds of the record.

The fastest is 0.89 seconds, by a robot.

I cheated. :D

I peeled off the sticky squares and put them all back in the right order then stuck it up with Uhu glue so it couldn't ever be mixed up again.

I was given it by a friend when they became popular, I hated that Rubik cube and I swear it hated me back!!!!!!!

Our apartment has been delayed. It's a novel construction method where the apartments are built off site in a factory and attached to the concrete core later.

Unfortunately the contractor constructing the apartments went bankrupt and a new one had to be found. We probably won't be moving back until the autumn.

I currently go once (Sometimes twice) to The Men's Shed, it is a charity that supports men, and we can teach each other skills we have learnt over the years.

Last week I started the ball rolling on getting an Enhanced DBS, so I can become a keyholder, my plan is to open on Sundays as when I get back to work the weekday sessions will drop.

I have used for the first time a chop saw and table saw, as well as help build 3 work benches for our new shed, which will require a lot of work as it used to be a changing rooms for the nearby football pitch.

We are currently building another 3 work benches.

In February, my nephew took and passed his theory driving test, then my sister heard about the agro of taking the driving test and manage to book it for today, she then said, well I guess you had better take lessons which he did.

He booked 3 blocks of 5 with 2-hour lessons, the 15th being the last lesson and test.

So now he has to buy a car, and he can now see his girlfriend who lives in the next town, without needing help.

Well I went to London yesterday to see the Fly by.

Despite Birdcage walk & Parliament street being shut, we eventually made our way to Trafalgar Square and we had a perfect spot to see the 70 aircraft approach and fly over our head, the crowds cheered loudly and the biggest went to the Red Arrows.

While there, my sister told me that my niece who I knew was going to buy a promise ring to her girlfriend on the holiday next weekend, that the girlfriend told my sister quietly that she was going to give my niece a promise ring too, so my sister had to put on her best poker face.

Later she spoke to my niece and asked when was she planning to give the ring and then said take it with you just in case you get that perfect moment.

Her Girlfriend is a lovely young lady who I will be glad to welcome to the family, she is also in the process of applying to be a WPC, and would need to move up to us as she lives in Kent.

Really enjoyable, and great fun.

Shakespeare as it was originally intended - in the open air, with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance, performed by an all-male cast, some pretending to be women, some pretending to be women pretending to be men…

I live at the seaside, the beach has never appealed to me i like trees and rivers , Burnham beeches looks great , any hoo we had a great time and were followed through the wild wild wood by a Tiger a Lion and a wolf but managed to get out without being eaten, and there was a terrifying butterfly encounter that prompted a bit of screaming.

I am a member of a local charity, and we are moving into a new building.

It needs a lot of work, last week we knocked out the relevant walls, it was thought they were breeze blocks, but they were concrete blocks and a bugger, but they were no match for a sledgehammer.

We started to remove the roof, and it's hot up there, it would be easier if everyone helped every day, but such is life.

As you may know, since last June I've been going to a charity called the Men's Shed.

Well 12 days ago we started to knockdown walls and remove the roof, today we started to put the trusses on and all going well we should be water tight.

All going well, we should be finished by the end of August.

Inflation is at 9%, so a 7% cut really? (Sorry I forgot the Happy thought thread bit ....)

I have some national savings index linked bonds that increase with inflation, they are doing very well !

Just come back from an ultrasound scan of my aorta to check for any aneurysm. No abnormality detected so all's well there. :)

This is a routine scan at age 65 for all men.

A cost of living pay rise of 2% that isn't part of my annual pay rise is a win to me,. I don't know about anyone else but this is my first ever cost of living rise on top of any other rise.

It is a win definitely but lets hope it's the last needed for cost of living alone reasons :tu:

A mini tour of the South West this week. Bournemouth today, Torquay and Newquay later in the week. Feck me, its a long drive... Going north to south in this country is ok, but when you try to go east/ west all hell breaks loose...

If anybody wants proof of climate change, they are growing coconuts down here ;) Still, all very nice. Don't know why anybody bothers going abroad with the coastline we've got.

Took on a Tidal HIFI subscription (got it really really cheap) and it is awesome. The app itself allows you independently set the output so I can send it down my optical SPDIF to my amp while I can still play games on the PC with sound through the speakers.

I been so used to listening to music on my PC or on my Google Home Hub Max actually using my HIFI amp again is blowing me away

Running tests on my new monster of an AIO water cooler the 420mm Artic Freezer II

Fixed @ 3.6GHZ my 9900K hit 77 degrees C running Prime 95 on blend with my old Dark Rock 4 (now this is a beast of an air cooler btw) 47 degrees C under the AIO

Turbo enabled @ 5GHZ the CPU hit 100 degrees plus on air had to stop the test under the AIO it spiked around 83 degrees at the start but as the cooler caught up it settled mid 70s. Outstanding result
