Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
i think to the fans the top prize is to win the league.. managers can view these things differently as Fergie grew up seeing the European Cup Final at Hampden Parkin 1960 and so had wanted to win it ever since then hence his comment
well done to Liverpool they beat all the teams they had to after the group stages and got to a well deserved final we played rubbish last night and could barely pass to our own men and got beat.. fair play to AC, whatever the rights and wrongs of them being there, there played better than us and beat us |

Difference of opinion then, i would prefer the CL and a Chetski fan who i know (and who now owes me 20 quid) thought the same thing before we put them out.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
i have to say i think winning it now is alot easier with the group stages where you can loose games, i.e Celtic this season, plus with teams in England, italy and Spain you only need to finish in the top 4 to get back in next season even if you have to qualify for it
last night also showed why i can frustrated with Giggs... he just went through the motions and didn't do anything, although neither did any of the others, he's done that too many times in the past few years Vidic clearly wasn't fit and maybe if he had gone off after 20 mins we might have done better O'Shea couldn't pass the ball all night and he does that too often at RB and really didn't look United quality Smith should have come on at HT.. stick him in midfield and he would have have given us some more bit and hunger |

You can win the champions league by avoiding or losing to all the big names in the early stages and having to raise your game for a semi. I'm a chelsea fan, don't get me wrong I am gutted that we didnt make it to the final (or even win it), but that does not hurt as much as not winning the premiership ( I haven't conceded this yet but its very likely we wont win it now). The premiership is the biggest prize in English football. |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Our injuries and amount of recent games played really showed last night, all credit to AC Milan they really wanted the win and played superb! They looked fresher, played quick attacking football and in the end deserved the final result.
Unlike Liverpool who are only in one competition and are miles off the BIG 2, we can't afford to rest players at the weekend, this really showed last night. A few quality signings in the summer should help us next season |

and so it rumbles on, people don't seem to realise you get what you deserve, the only people to blame for Wigan and Fulham's plight is themselves

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
do you know what the Fa are going to do ?
my understanding is that the fine is for the league games but they also played Tevez and JM in the cup and so there is meant to be FA action too in typical FA style they said they would do nothing at all until the Prem League had looked into it and then copy whatever they did |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
After watching Masch playing for Liverpool I really don't know why West Ham didn't play him. Is it that DMs these days are a luxury item for teams that dominate possession? But for teams that are being dominated they find themselves swamped and unable to assert their game?

With the money at stake, I think decency and principals go out the window... They just descend on West Ham like lions or vultures.

Terry Brown, the guy is a multi millionaire and an accountant by trade, it beggars belief that he is so stupid, we had to endure years of his incompetence and just when you think the bar steward has gone his biggest goof comes to light, the blame for this lies firmly at his door, although it has to be said nobody comes out of it smelling to good, when we signed them we all knew that MSI owned a fair chunk of them, so why did the powers that be allow the transfers to go through in the first place? Do they not know their own rules? |
