:dunce: Well spotted gazzae, I thought Chelsea got a bit of a lesson tonight, can't see past Barca for the Champions League.

Liverpool supporters condemned for attacking Smith ambulance

The reputation of Liverpool fans took another pummelling last night when it was revealed that the ambulance taking Alan Smith to hospital had come under attack outside Anfield. Supporters surrounded the vehicle while throwing missiles and shouting "Munich ****" in reference to the plane crash that killed 23 people, including eight Manchester United players, in 1958.

Bottles, beer glasses and stones were hurled as the ambulance became stuck in heavy traffic after Saturday's FA Cup tie. Witnesses also claim the ambulance was rocked as some Liverpool followers tried to overturn it. A spokesman for the Merseyside ambulance trust confirmed the attack and condemned the people responsible. "It did not result in any delay in transferring the player to hospital . . . but the trust cannot condone this type of behaviour while administering emergency treatment."

Can't say I'm surprised at that but sadly I'm not sure the reverse wouldn't have happened had it been a Liverpool player getting past United fans - the hate between many Scouse and Manc fans runs VERY deeply.

nice to see Chelsea getting paid back for the Robben \ Reina incident .. not read his comments yet but i'm sure he didn't mention that Del Horno was also cheating and rolling about on the floor as well as Messi

Whilst I don't condone Robbens antics, Reina would off been sent off regardless as he raised his had. With Messi and Del Horno, if Messi hadn't rolled around and 10 of the Barca players didn't start screaming at the ref, then I think at worst it would of been a yellow card or even just a foul with no cards. Still, it would of been nice if Del Horno and Messi hadn't started faking injury.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season

i posted this on another forum earlier

Del Horno should have gone for the following reasons

1. five minutes before he did a foul on Messi where he deliberately went through on him after the ball had gone and came down on his knee. This was violent onduct and could have been a straight red
2. In the build up to the sending off he fouled Messi and that could have been his second booking
3. The so called tackle was a foul anyway so that is another booking
4. After the incident he rolled around on the floor and that is also a book as simulation is a yellow

i see they didn't really mention that Del Horno was also rolling all over the floor just like Messi was when he wasn't injured either and i bet Mourinho didn't mention that in his interview afterwards.. if it's ok for his players to do it he should expect it being done back to him

I agree it should have been a red well done to the ref, the tv were bound to be biased as they have to be seen wanting the english team through, personally I am happy to see chelsea been done over, trying to stop football been played on their home ground and relying on counter attack. Strange how andy gray can keep moaning about the ref when chelsea get these little decisions week in and week out.

Andy Gray is a tosspot! Someone said that he wears a Chelsea outfit whenever he commentates on their games. Somehow I can see it being true. Barcelona were awesome against Chelsea and they will be again in 2 weeks time. Think we lost the cup though.

it's more a case of when they show prem matches they try and by unbiased but when it comes to Europe they like to get behind the English teams and support them

hence during the commentry they mentioned that Messi was diving but made no mention of the fact that Del Horno was too, although Jamie Redknapp picked it up at HT.. strangely Mourinho didn't seem to notice that either

What puts me off the DoF idea though, is that I've never seen a club in this country where it's actually worked. Might be OK as an interim measure though whilst we look for something better...

One thing is certain, I want Megson's cronies (Barlow and Crawford) to follow him out the door, they're anti-football.

another thing is that Forest tend not to go for employed managers...

Just heard on SSN that Forest are after Dave Beasant, but you probably already know that.

That's late - it's now (apparently) Roy Keane.

Good to see normal service has been resumed at Arsenal after their midweek blip against Real.

Lols. Megson couldn't win for toffee yet Ken and Charlie won 2 games 0-2 and 7-1.
