And today is GCSE day. My daughter got good grades and continues on to 6th form. She was a bit disappointed because the school gave out the results of their "internal" exams indicating much higher grades than eventually received. She did really well and really knuckled down to get the marks she did get.

They're really aggressive, they'll throw things at you for daring to walk near a tree they're in and they force greys to move out of the area to

We're going to go and visit my sister in East Sussex (nr Uckfield) for lunch and a chin wag. We've been Zoom video calling on a regular basis but seeing someone in person is much nicer. We'll also see how the dog training is going. :)

Thanks for a misreading or something my son's application for accommodation at Uni went missing and the places available where much more expensive (Like £8.5k without meals compared to £5.5k with some meals).
This was discovered while we were on holiday so our day trip en-route home via Exeter instead of just a night at restaurant and look round became a search to see if anything cheaper and closer was available. Still nice night out at great Thai restaurant and the campus is better than the town centre (sorry Exeter). Now he's deferred his place a year so pressure is off, he can grow up a bit, earn some money and get a place in hall next year. Also possible things will not just lock down next year or less likely than this year.

Oh wow that is good news.

I lost one of mine on a day out many many years ago. We found it months later when the car was having a full valet prior to our wedding. It had managed to hide itself under the carpet!!! It was only a cheap pair but had a lot of sentimental value . Kept the singleton and the reunited pair are safely tucked up in my Memories Box. :)

In 2019 my niece lost a bit of her bracelet while on holiday, we searched the room but couldn't find it, a few weeks after we can home i stood on it on our carpet, and yet she nor her mum had been in our house.

I guess it was caught up in her clothing and dropped into stuff we took home.

I remember the story about a woman who lost a ring while gardening and several years later she was pulling up some carrots, only to find the ring around one.

Get a colleague to book at meeting from 1900 or 1800 if they can get away with it that you have to attend but doesn't really happen. Just to stop some silly person trying to book a real one in.

Since June, I've been going to a charity near me called The Men's Shed, it has helped me, recently I put a thing about it on my towns moaning page on facebook

Well to day some one who saw this came along and joined.

He is originally from Germany, and I said I've always wanted to ask a German this question "Have you heard of Fawlty Towers and have you seen the episode called The Germans" he laughed and said "Don't mention the War, I did once but think I got away with it"

I laughed and said I was always told this was never seen in Germany, but this is not true.

Ditto heero, bought extra large fresh chicken 2.2kg £3.80 bargain from Tesco, reduced from £4.75 which I cooked same day. So far chicken and chips with gravy, today chicken curry and boiled rice, enough for tomorrow, and the rest in freezer, plus a little left over for a sandwich. :)

My niece quit here job at Asda and got a job in a Nursery (10am to 2pm Mon to Fri) as it is closer to what her degree and career path is, but she is waiting on Asda to do a reference.

On Sunday she had planned to spend the week with her girlfriend house sitting her girlfriend's sister pet Bearded Dragon. But sitting in McDonald's with her and my sister, the new job contacted her and said can you please start Monday 8:30am to 5pm as they have loads self-isolating and short-staffed.

So she had to get a personal reference and that will do, so she agreed with them to do full hours Mon to Wed and the short day Thurs & Fri.

So as I type, she is probably having fun running around with 2 to 4-year-olds.

This will enable her to also start the Uni course.

Glad to hear your screening showed that you were in the clear Hugh, I always keep my fingers crossed when I am screened for different heath checks each year. Seems to work.:D :D

John and I are hoping that we will get our flu jabs on Monday when we get our C19 booster shots. Think I'll try the fingers crossed method.:)

We have been told we have to stay on site for 15 minutes, the same as happened after our Pfizer injections.

Well neither John nor I had any reaction to our first 2 Prizer jabs ...well only a tender arm which soon returned to normal. Hopefully which ever brand we get on Monday will be OK. :)

My BuCUE model kit has just arrived, all the way from Japan. :)

Now I need to find a couple of days to make it up. No glue is required for these but there's some delicate trimming up of the parts with a hobby knife to remove the sprue remains after the part is clipped out of the frame.

No painting either as the parts are already moulded in the correct colours and there are decals provided.

(See post #5662 in what have you just bought thread for details)

Selling my 3 year old trusty RX580 this evening for £200 which is only £20 less than I paid in 2018. Could have got a lot more but then I would feel guilty. Mind you Scan did not feel bad charging me £669 for a RTX3060TI double the MSRP

A long time ago I was on a Channel 4 documentary about men who go bald prematurely. I saw it when it came out but that was it.

Got the pooch booked in the kennels for 2022, so we can have a 10 day holiday in May, 10 days in July, and 10 days in September 2022.

We had been hoping for a fortnight in May and July, but it’s a small kennel that’s always booked up a year in advance.

Probably North Cyprus in May, road trip in July, and North Cyprus again in September (all things being equal) - our road trips in the last couple of years have been Massachusetts/Cape Cod, California, Italy, and Florida, but with only 10 days, probably somewhere in Europe next year.

"Yay, holidays!".

Yesterday I had a knock on the door, it was the daughter of my next-door neighbour asking for help.

Her mum had slipped off the end of the bed and was seating on the floor (clothed), and she couldn't get her up on her own.

I donned a mask and helped get her back up.

When I came home later, my dad said that the daughter had dropped a box of Milk Tray over as a thank-you.

On Monday, I had a message from a job agency about a job and to call them.

I tried to speak to the person twice, but was unable to, and they didn't call back.

On Wednesday, I went to the agency to speak to them, but they weren't in, nor did they call back.

Today I was at the shed, and she called, and said that her client had seen my CV, and they had another job that might be of interest, and as me more details what a Technical Librarian job was which I told her.

I got home and got a call about another I had applied for from a company I left in 2005, and would start the ball rolling on an interview.

I then got an email from the first Agency and I have an interview at 4pm tomorrow, both jobs are local.

Good luck with the interview Hom3r. A technical librarian has lots of transferable skills so they will be onto a good thing if they get you.

If only companies knew what the job title actually was, even the job centre still doesn't know what it is.

Picked up my son from the Spinal Unit at the LGI this evening, where he had been for 10 days - he’ll be staying with us for around four weeks, undergoing physio and rehab, then his partner will take him back to Oxfordshire for Christmas with her parents.

We are so glad he was up visiting us (the day before, his Nanna had passed away, so he drove up to support his mum, then had an accident the next day), but the LGI is a very good Teaching Hospital, so he got great care (and we could take stuff in to make his stay more comfortable), and it’s easier for him to rehab at our house rather than on the narrowboat he lives on.

Sometimes, even in the darkest moments, there is a ray of light to brighten up your lives.

@ Hugh. Massive hugs to you all. Hopefully his recovery will go well. He's young and and this will help him.

Having him home with you will help you and your wife, it's always hard seeing our children struggle at a distance especially when you are all also dealing with other problems.

Take care and stay strong. xxx

Spend it quick Den, inflation is a killer atm ! I recommend the socks in Sainsburys, excellent value/quality. Go on treat yourself to £140 worth, you deserve warm feet ;)

But not the trainer socks. Who ever designed them should be taken out the back and shot.

I have 10,866 points or £54.33, we would use them at Christmas or on our UK holiday.

but not used them shone Christmas 2019.

I might liquidise them and buy some Vodka.

My Happy thoughts...
1. Finished work until 4th January
2. Heating is finally fixed after 2 months without any downstairs, although no hot water yet but have an emersion heater for now.
3. Passed my Lateral Flow Test which means Christmas is ON with Family who are recovering from having Covid which I nearly lost my Father to but he's very slowly on the mend, so it will be emotional seeing them when I drive up to North Wales in the morning.

I finished last week (last day was the 16th) also back on the 4th Jan.

(Of course, when I say back, I do of course WFH :))

I ordered some tests last week, and gave one a go at the weekend (negative).
Unlike the ones Ive seen other people use, these only required you to do nose swabs.

Last week I ordered Salted Caramel cream liqueur from Tesco and the substituted it for Baileys, driver did not tell me of any subs. I called and said I did not want it and they said the driver would come back, he did not. Called again and they said give it to the driver this week. The driver said he could not take it so I called again and they refunded me. Free Baileys hahaha
