True, but I don't think there are any channels that you can watch on VM that you can't watch on Sky (I believe film4 HD may be one, but that is being added to Sky soon)

The same isn't true the other way round. And that is the problem.

TV channels should be available for all platforms at an appropriate price. If those channel providers are not prepared to share, then they shouldn't be allowed to buy programmes and films exclusively. That should be the law.

Why? How does this benefit the consumer? In your world, I suppose if we wanted access to all channels, we would be paying Sky, VM and BT! Doesn't make sense, does it?

And yes, it is quite possible you might have to pay all providers.

As you do when you want to watch exclusives (eg netflix etc)
