So Sky offering you a new customer a 1Tb box for £149 less than existing customers is a good thing? Seems that VM are not the only ones with skewed pricing. You can't compare the pricing of the latest 1Tb box with one of the older Sky boxes either that are "free" either. My guess is that in a year or so VM will be offering a cut down tivo box free or nearly free as well. They will have to if they are going to move their whole platform over to tivo. p\robably smaller hard drive and less tivo features I would guess.

There is the thing.....

(i know your post was not to me.)

But if I do stay with VM I will get Tivo for free anyway. I'm decided, instead of £189 + £36(12 times £3 a month) +£40 install I'm getting Sky-hd installed for 1 year with 1 pack and HD.

That way I will have 3 tuners on my v+ and 2 on my sky+hd so the potential to record 5 channels....Beat that Tivo lol.

TiVo is so much more than that though :)

That is the thing with being an early adopter though isn't it? My guess anyway is it will be many years before you get a fully featured 1Tb box for free and as I understand it the price will be £149, whether that will have an install price on top I'm not sure.
BTW if you paid VM for two V+ boxes you could have six tuners without paying two subscriptions. :)

No Tivo's main selling point is the dynamic never miss a recording epg. Yours doesnt have it its just a 1tb box with apps. Now boxes have always had apps.

GAMES, SHOPPING, even DATING AND CHATROOMS.

I will be pleased to take Tivo when its rolled out to all and enjoy VM as it is right now untill then. After if I'm honest the VM platform as it stands is as agood as I need it to be.

I'm not anti Tivo but the hype has blown it self out for me with this drawn out release and little bit of info about what Tivo DOES NOT do .

I know but since I joined VM in december my kids and Mrs keep whining about the channels they have lost. I was telling them the Tivo will make up for it but lets face it..It wont.

So tivo or skyhd with one or 2 packs for an extra £70 over a year? Like i said I'm sure i will love Tivo when i get it rolled out ot me as part of VM's global rollout.

That's fair enough. Don't bother with Tivo and save the money. It's the same for any piece of electronics. Most people seem to be moaning they haven't got one yet. Including me although to be fair I didn't really think I would habve one yet.

Must admit mate I have a skyhd box still hooked up , just now on freesat and the HD lineup is far superior to VM.

If you take 6 mix with Sky you'll get these over VM although you have to pay £10.25 for Sky and nothing for VM.

Sky Atlantic HD , Universal HD , Sky Arts 1 HD , Sky Arts 2 HD , Sky Sports News HD , Rush HD , Good Food HD , Nickelodeon HD , Disney XD HD , Sky News HD , ITV2 HD , ITV3 HD , ITV4 HD , Nat Geo Wild HD , History HD , Bio HD , CI HD , Eden HD.

The freesat HD line up is superior?

Edit Ah you mean if you paid their sub and HD charge?

I I will always be loyal to Virgin but l have to say on Tivo the way this has been played out since December has been very poor to say the least as they led us to believe that we were all going to get it much sooner than what is happening at the present time, the communication from Virgin has been very poor in this.

That may be so but the main problem seems to be just not enough boxes to meet demand. As somebody who is waiting for one I would like to know when that situation is likely to improve.

Will you get a fully featured 1Tb box though? I doubt it. If you are happy with that and willing to wait then you are doing the right thing.

Here here my friend 20000 pre reg isn't a massive number , Sky had over three times that for it's HD box launch and not all them 20000 will take TIVo in fact probably a quarter wont.

People need to get things into perspective.

Having a TiVo isn't the most important thing in your life at the moment.

Having £149 handy to pay for it is.................:PP:
